  • You do realise that if you have a 30% deposit in 2007, and then save a load more, you still have a 30% deposit.

Think about it, before you make any more silly posts ;)

If the bank manager asked me "do you have a 20% deposit sir" I would say yes. My deposit however, may actually be 80%.
    ,

Thats not always true, if you save a 30 percent deposit and then save a load more but house prices rocket in the same time, you could in theory end up having a less than 30 percent deposit.

Think about it, before you try and make any of your patronising silly post's;)

    Thats true.

But not the case here, sadly. So, although true, doesn't actually relate to anything in the context we are talking of, or the "lies" you tried to make out the poster was making.

Good grief, you are absolutely cr&p at this.

JOINT income of 73k. HIS income near 50k.

He has not pretended he earns 73k. He said joint. Therefore, your 15k pay rise is utter nonsense, hence why you are so bad at doing what you are doing right now.

And these figures relate perfectly to the SOA you posted up too.

You're quite right that the SOA looks right for income. His idea of what he spends his money on doesn't though. Surely they allow him a pint or two in the army?

This then leads to the how did he get from £58k saving to £105k in savings 9/2/09 - 24/3/10. Not possible bar some luck on the horses, inheritance, or such like.

No, what I suspect is happening is the majority of the facts are quite true but he's massaging them slightly to bolster his ego. It must have taken quite a battering recently with his climb downs.
And now he's here getting all uppity on someones maths when stating they earn £73k and have a 3.5x mortgage but it's only for £225k. Perhaps he needs a "thicko" to help him with his maths.

Just makes me wonder if he really is getting it for 04 prices or if it's 05 or even 06.
From my viewpoint there's nothing wrong with any of the prices, people really do need to just get on with their lives like Harry and Conrad have said, but it's clear he's backing down by buying a house whilst still trying to claim some sort of victory depsite the evidence being shaky and the stats not quite adding up.

Thats a load of crap aswell he said he earnt 24500 which would mean he was a lower tax payer, which is 20% so his gross earnings would be 29400 but he would have national insurance and probably a pension but it still wouldnt be over 35000 pounds.

His wife earnt 13000 pounds with tax at 20 percent would take it 15600 round it of to say 20,000 pounds if you want and he his nowhere near 73k.

If he or his wife was higher earners they would pay 40 percent tax but niether of them do.
  • And i know because the figures he gives after tax are exactly the same has mine pay wise but my wife takes home 12000 pound and not 13000 pound and we are nowhere near taking home a gross pay of nearly 50,000 pound let alone 73000 pound.

Wh you spend 6 months + abroad a year, I can assure you its not difficult with bonuses.

This then leads to the how did he get from £58k saving to £105k in savings 9/2/09 - 24/3/10. Not possible bar some luck on the horses, inheritance, or such like.

Talked about this on here. We further reduced expenditure with a 0% CC which currently has 5K on it. We also have been lent 4k by my family till november. We hit 105K in Feb.

    wait and see.

I suppose that depends on which index you use, suffice to say we araying less than what we would have based upon mid 2005 prices, when I joined HPC.

Fair enough. Are you not worried that by using all your deposit and by in effect borrowing to fund that, you leave yourselves over exposed?

Fair enough again. That's the whole thing isn't it? You say 04 to start then it might be 05 etc. It's all immaterial anyhow. The price is what it is.

It seems to me you're busy trying to convince yourself on these forums you are doing the right thing probably because it's such a large change from your previous position. You have in effect become one of the people you warned were heading for a shock.
Make sure you're sure you want to do it then get on with it and ignore this rubbish. My posts included when they stray into such territory.... yeah ok it's fairly often :D

I wish you happiness and luck in your new home.
