Surprise Pregnancy

Not sure why I'm posting really, I guess its as I'm not ready to tell anyone in the real world just yet.
Have just this evening found out I'm pregnant. I already have 3 kids - 11, 7, 2. Whilst I was always of the feeling that I would be happy with another, we weren't trying as such but there again weren't avoiding it either. Please don't turn this into a contraception debate. It took ages wilfully trying to concieve the other 3 for it to happen so this is very much a surprise.
My mind is all in a muddle now. I'm 38 now. Just last month I traded my 7 seater in for a 4 x 4. I had thought the family was complete and that was that. I also freecycled all the baby stuff. All I have left is the pram and the car seat.
I'm not saying I'm devastated about the pregnancy, just mixed feelings at the minute. I suppose my main worries are how the other kids will react, how my parents will react and also how my friend who is having IVF is going to react. Age worries me too.
Its early days as I am technically only 5 weeks. I'll stop rambling now as there really wasn't a lot of point to this thread other than to get it off my chest.

congratualtions and julbilations! I bet you'll be surprised how pleased everyone is for you, my mum didn't have any of us till she was 38, 40 and then 42 and she has always said she felt much more relaxed than her younger friends. Plus, your eldest will be perfect age for a babysitter in a few years lol0

Congratulations :-)
I'm sure everyone will be pleased for you. Sounds like you need to get back on freecycle and see what you can pick up ;-) x:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0 -
congratulations - i sense that beneath the shock and horror - there is a happiness here?
so celebrate the chinese child (every fourth child born in the world is chinese apparently) and enjoy!
my childbearing days are over - I had three kids - but if a fourth had come along - I would have been thrilled. so you enjoy your new addition.
as for baby items - isnt that what ebay and freecycle do best?0 -
Congratualtions:j
Four is fab, this time last year I was in the same position as you as I found out I was pregnant with number 4 and we thought we were done.
I had sold all my baby things and had to start all over again, new car, moving bedrooms around and all the rest, I have to admit I was more than a little stressed.
However what a difference a year makes LOL!
Now I wouldn't change a thing and even though our home is now very busy and loud I'm loving it :rotfl:My munchkins are 9, 4, 3 and 5 months:eek:
Enjoy your surprise mine was the fourth best thing that ever happened to me. Looking back I can't believe all the stress I went through this time last year when I was scared we wouldn't manage and now with bubs being 5 months old I can't imagine being without him.
Good Luck and enjoy:)0 -
I'm 39 and would give my right arm to be in your position. If you are bringing a child into a happy safe environment, material things don't really matter. Your kids will adapt.
You haven't mentioned dad.....does he know yet??0 -

You hung onto the pram and the car seat, are you totally sure you didn't have any secret hopes?

Congratulations!0 -
Congratulations! In 2007 while on holiday I found out I was having my 4th-to say i nearly fell into the loo-i carried out the test in a shopping mall loo, with a test where the instructions were not in english, lol) is an understatement!!! I too worried big time about finances ,the ex was not best pleased to put it mildly and i didn't know how the hell i'd pull it off!
Fast forward to 2010-i really don't know what all the fuss was about! Yes finances are tested-but they always were, lolthe now 17,14 and 11 year olds have got over the embarrasment and love their brother to bits and i'm getting along just fine! Yes there have been some sticky moments(in the main 'cos me and the ex had certain trails and tribulations)but me and the kids are fine.
You will be absolutely fine and it's amazing how you get thrown when you think your 'finished' and another one pops up,lol. But when you look back,it really is never as hard as you fist envisaged-and that's coming from someone who always worries about everything, lol. Enjoy your pregnancy!:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0
