Not so Easy Jet

Options
Was flying to Munich on Monday night for the Champions League game between Bayern and Manchester United the following evening.

Arrived at Gatwick about 3 hours before - relax, few beers, food etc. Noticed a few hours in that the time on the boards had changed from 6.35pm to 8.15pm for the expected time of departure.

Anyway enquired at the Customer Service Desk staffed by a contractor Menzies Aviation....basically was told to keep checking the boards and that it was a Europe wide Easyjet computer systems crash.

For another four hours there was no staff on duty as more and more people came up. No communication whatsoever.

At 8.30pm they cancelled the flight, after announcing previous cancellations. No apology was made and instead we were taken out back to the main Easyjet Desk near their check in.

Basically the only options we were given were on a sheet of paper involving emailing in a refund request or to claim back expenses used to get their.

In my case I had to fork out 180 quid to fly to Munich the next morning from Heathrow with BA. I spent the night in Heathrow as it was to hard for me to get home.

Flying out last night, another 2 hour delay, and learned that apparently some people were given hotels near Heathrow. Again this was not communicated.

End rant.

I don't see what your problem is, other than the obvious inconvenience of the situation. Easyjet have offered to pay for your alternative arrangements which probably would have included the Hotel stay, had you asked. If you don't ask, you don't get.

They have offered....the question mark is whether they will.

    Have heard mixed reports.

Seems to me Regulation 261/2004 can be invoked here entitling you to compensation for the cancellation.

Entitled to fixed compensation of 250 Euros, plus hotel charges. And a refund.

I am intrigued as to why a Man Utd supporter would be flying from Gatwick? :p

Plenty of us in London ;)

    Thanks for the responses guys.

They have said they will refund me the 180, but am I still entitled to further compensation?
