shop at morrisons instead lol
last week, my 14 year old son was helping me with the shopping as he is stronger than me, he picked up 2 packs of cider, so 24 cans in total, put them on the till, and paid for them with money i'd given him earlier, he was never questioned at all, but i was there to say they were for me, if he was questionedenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0 -

That's pretty awesome. My mum's friend was refused alcohol (at Tesco's) because she was with her daughter and her daughter was under the age of 18, even though it was for my mum's friend. What a joke!0 -

You only have to ask for ID if they look under 25 and you are not sure about their age. It is to cover your own back. If you are 100% sure they are over age then you can sell it to them.
As for the comment from those asking the cashier for ID, they cashier doesn't have to be 18 but the sale has to be authorised by someone over 18.If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550 -
I understand that all these incidents being complained about are irritating for the person trying to purchase alcohol, but you do realise that no shop is under any sort of legal obligation to sell you anything don't you?
You have no actual legal right to walk into a shop and give them money for an item belonging to them - selling something to you is their choice. If they choose that they don't want to sell you something that belongs to them, whether it be alcohol or a loaf of bread, then that's up to them.
If you walk into a shop with a passport, driving licence, validate card or whatever else you care to bring with you, it is still the retailer's choice whether or not to sell you an item.
Even if you try to buy alcohol from a retailer and present valid ID, they still have no legal obligation to sell it to you. It is an item owned by them that you are offering to buy.
In the same way as you are under no legal obligation to sell your car to the first person who turns up and offers to buy it - the car is yours and therefore you choose if you want to sell it to the person.

Just as it is the customers right to take their business elsewhere to a store that does not make it difficult or unpleasant to shop.0 -
I also have difficulty with companies declining my licence as valid id due to cropping of the picture by DVLA, whoever did it was a complete @rse and left my licence looking like it has been forged, I understand where Tesco is coming from here, your problem is with the DVLA not Tesco however.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0

When i was 19 i bought a lottery ticket and the woman goes to me "they should raise the age to 18 on these tickets to stop people like you buying them" I just told her i was 19 and she shut up :-)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I got ID'd and I didn't have anything with me (I'm 32), but I simply beamed at them and said "Thanks, you made my day, I'm off to Sainsbury's to buy my wine!"0
