Oh I understand why, but it makes a mockery of it for her to pick the bottle up, go to another checkout and waltz straight out with it. What was the point?

so following that logic, Tesco would only permit someone to buy alcohol if they were alone and had ID or accompanied by someone also carrying ID?

send a copy to the local trading standards as well, as they are the ones that check whether tesco's etc are checking id's properly

Maybe I'm missing something here but what does it have to do with Trading Standards?
Surely Tesco can refuse to serve anyone at all for whatever reason they choose?

    Discrimination laws aside of course

I got asked "you are over 18, aren't you" by the assistant in Tesco the other day.

I wish. (I am most definitely over 18!) :rotfl:

She peered at me suspiciously while I was bent over laughing, but served me anyway.

Just use your locals if your moaning.

Over here you need a passport or your Swedish citizenship ID card to buy tobacco , snus , alcohol , but everyone has them so no probs.

Tesco and asda have gone crazy lately it seems so ferk em.

Can we ask a sales assistant for ID and refuse to complete the purchase if they don't have any?
