Don't be so sensitive, and don't get offended.
You do not HAVE to use talcum. I thought people might like to know about it.
The point is that it's traditional household use makes people blind to its dangers.
To me, the post infers 'it's as safe as talcum'.0 -
Surely it's the perfume in talc that's carcinogenic?
While we're at it, let's ban bonfires and open fires in houses as woodsmoke is carcinogenic so they say. And of course smoked foods, so by bye smoked bacon, smoked fish and of course anything cooked on a BBQ.
Oh but its OK to drive a car and pollute the atmosphere with seriously nasty stuff, which your kids breathe in on their way to school every day as they negotiate the MPVs and the 4x4's spewing it out at the school gates. For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.0 -

Your right ,some of it is, but the word Asbestos is a general term.White aspestos is not dangerous unless you inhale a large amount of small particles.
Schools and hospitals had/have Blue or Brown aspestos which is usually around pipe lagging. It was used exactly the same way as hospital use to plaster a broken leg, wet, plaster bandages wrapped around pipes which then set and isnulated the pipes. This is harmless unless its disturbed and in particle form. Many, many schools and hospitals still have this "Pipe lagging"..
The reason I know the facts is because members of my family work in the demolishion industry and they often take down school buildings and hospitals too.
I will just repeat ANY powder is a possible danger including Custard, flour and icing sugar.... There is a lot of scare mongering going on purely because there is £billions to be made from it..
I agree it is very sad, lots of men working in shipbuilding have suffered for years too.I can also say that when a school is set to be demolished the county councils send in engineers to check for brown and blue asbestos and I can say from experience they frequently miss it.....0 -
