    Go for the Miele.

As an alternative I would only consider Siemens. I have the Siemens http://www.johnlewis.com/Electrical/Washing+Machines/+Washing+Machines+/+Washing+Machines+/230212471/Product.aspx it has 6Kg load, AAA rating, 1600 spin and a 5 year warranty. You may be able to save a few pounds on another website and using quidco.

Siemens and Bosch build their machines in the same factory which they set up as a joint venture producing a whole variety of white goods!

I have to agree with fortythree. I too have a Miele WM bought after many previously averagish machines - a family of 5 generates a lot of washing - and like 43 it has to go in an open plan kitchen/dining room. I am also impressed with how quiet it is - my last machine ( a PhillipsWhirlpool) sounded like concorde taking off compared to this when it was spinning. If you do opt for a Miele then check out kelkoo and similar sites for price as we got ours sooooo much cheaper by buying on-line. Good luck whatever you decide

Edit: ps it also came with 10 years guarantee so I guess they expect it to last at least that long. Reports say it could do 20 years I believe! (And no, I don't work for Miele!)

Yes, Siemens, Bosch and Neff are all basically the same company. But there are some differences in what they use on each appliance, hence the change in price from one make to another.
  • I would definitely recommend investing the extra money on a Miele washing machine as, unless you are very unlucky, it will re-pay you several times over with faithful service.

We bought our Miele Washer/Dryer model WT945 seven years ago and apart from a problem that was fixed during warranty it hasn't failed us once and is still going strong, I love it.

I had my first Miele for 21 years and I replaced it with another Miele 4 years ago, it is reliable, solid, quiet and the fast economy wash is completed within 40 mins. I recommend it highly.
