for some reason the electrolux EWF and the samsung aren't highlighted as best buys even though they scored highly....all the rest are highlighted as best buys

We bought a Miele washing machine recently and I have to say it is incredibley quiet. we have an open plan kithcen and living room and I was worried about the noise from the washing machine but it is no problem at all. I did a bit of research beforehand and the Miele seem to be the quietest on the market but I must say I have been surprised by just how quiet it is.
If the noise level is impotant to you I would definitley recommend a Miele. They are a bit more expensive though, so i guess it depends on your priorities.0 -
Sorry just notice your other queries
Miele is very simple to operate. Only one dial to turn, which decides programme and temperature. Short programme is 42 minutes. of course this is for our model, forgotten the number! but hope this helps a bit.
Also useful. It tells you in digitds how long to the end of the programme, and once its started you only get a couple fo minutes to turn it off then its locked into the programme. Very useful if you have young children!0 -

If you buy a Bosch or a Miele though you might find that one every 10 years is more the norm!
My Bosch washing machine is celebrating its tenth birthday. I have only had an engineer out once and that was because I lost a bra wire in it(!)
The downside of the particular machine I have is that it only has a cold water inlet so could potentially be more expensive to run (it has a lower energy rating), although because we have a huge house (7 bedrooms) the water tank is immense and costs a fortune in gas to keep hot - so it means the machine heats its own water which is more economical for my particular situation.
I would definitely buy Bosch again (or Miele - I have a dishwasher which is fabulous).
I still can't convince my boyfriend to spend on his machine - he has just bought a Creda because my Mum told him it had a 35 minute cycle, although he only does two washes a week, doesn't really have really dirty clothes so it might last longer!
Oh by the way, my Mum had her AEG for 22 years, then gave it to my brother when he started up his home! It saw its way through piles of washing from her three kids!
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Go for the Miele.
As an alternative I would only consider Siemens. I have the Siemens http://www.johnlewis.com/Electrical/Washing+Machines/+Washing+Machines+/+Washing+Machines+/230212471/Product.aspx it has 6Kg load, AAA rating, 1600 spin and a 5 year warranty. You may be able to save a few pounds on another website and using quidco.0 -

Is it quiet, easy to operate.
How long is the quick wash.
Thanks
Quick wash is 31 mins and its a lot quieter then the servis we used to have"Those who try to make sense of the world are divided into four categories: scientists, theologians, philosophers, and fools. Correction ... make that one category with three sub-divisions" -- Carlo Kensada0 -
31 mins.
WOW thats great!!!!0 -

When this one finally goes I definitely be getting another AEG again. It's on about once a day. I even got it cheap because of a unnoticeable dent on the front!
I believe that AEG is now part of the Electrolux stable and therefor the quality of the newer ones may not be as good as they were.
I have just bought a Siemens WXLP146AGB with a 10 year guarentee, it is an absolute dream, I liked the idea of not having to buy another washing machine until 2016!0
