Get lots of help with filling in the forms x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Good afternoon all :D

I overslept this morning - this hour is still messing my internal timer up  I normally get up at 6am so waking at 7.30am felt really late!

Anyhoo I got into work ok and have now finished for the bank holiday weekend. The weather is freezing cold, windy, hailing, sleeting, raining and trying to snow so I don't think there'll be much time spent outside :( I had visions of getting the garden sorted and maybe having out first barbeque of the season ........................... :rotfl: Maybe not!

Tea tonight is quiche, new potatoes & coleslaw with peas. It was going to be salad originally but its too cold now.

Bitsy Take any financial help that you're offered it'll all help your DS in the long run. He may need more expensive things and learning aids when he gets older. Ooh what did work do to your DH??? I'm intrigued :)

Love to everyone & hugs where needed xxx

Edited to add: Catman I keep leftover pasta in the fridge deliberately as the children will often put some on a plate, add grated cheese with salt & pepper and microwave it. I like to melt some butter in a small pan, add garlic and a good squirt of tomato puree then mix it in with the reheated pasta. HTH

    Afternoon peeps

April fooled DD this morning.... I rang the doorbell then shouted that her BF had arrived ........quickest she's ever got up and definately the earliest in a long time (7.30am) Then I shouted April Fool as I was going out of the door teehee :p

Consultant was running an hour late as per usual and after they had sent me for a spiro and chest x-ray I finally left the hospital at 11.00am (my appointment was 8.30am) Anyway got to go back in 3 months and they have changed my drugs again :( Thanks for the good wishes diva and I hope DH is better x

The weather here this morning was a little warmer than yesterday but it has told colder as the day has gone on ... quite nippy now brrrrr

Went into Wilkinsons on the way back and because it is their 80th birthday I managed to get 2.5l of white matt paint for the ceilings for 80p the offer is limited to 2 tins per customer so I sent DH in to get another 2 tins BARGAIN! considering I have so many ceilings to do so 10l paint has come to the grand total of £3.20 :j I also got some mini paint rollers again for 80p - plus alot of bits that are in their sale.

DD came home this morning with an Easter Egg from the Headteacher and he gave it to me :EasterBun It is gone :o

    N9eav :bdaycake:

Happy belated birthday to DD and Happy birthday to DS for tomorrow he has the same birthday as me there seems to be a lot on the thread who have March and April birthdays ........all of us Spring lambs eh :rotfl:

gemmabuckle.......I remember when we sold our old house and had problems with a buyer who eventually dropped out just as we were ready to sign the contracts  no wonder they say that moving house is one of the most stressful things in life........I hope it gets sorted soon (((hugs)))

Cookie9...hope the cold gets better soon ((hugs))

Julie67... I hope things went ok at the hospital ((hugs))

Lowsey..hope the hangover is better :)

nic1lou2...hope things turn out ok with Charlie bless him x

jellybaby.. what is it with men and kitchens? - I always know when DH is cooking because the smoke alarm goes off every time:eek::rotfl:
Don't worry if your home doesn't always look like a palace - it is very hard to get into a routine but you will get there honest, and don't let BF get away with not doing his share, he makes mess too so he should help out ((hugs))

catman.... sorry to hear about DW's Grandmother it is very hard when you lose someone who is so full of life x
I hope that you are settling down in your new house and that you will be very happy there.

Bitsy... I would apply for DLA ...mind you the form is very long but if you get your HV to help you fill it in it won't be too bad ......in fact the new form is a lot better to fill in than the old one. If DS needs constant watching and care you are entitled to it.

Oooh I think my posts are getting longer and longer :o

Keep warm and safe everyone xx

Thanks ladies for all the comments regarding the DLA paperwork. I think I will follow my HV advice and build up a stock of examples where I have to support DS so that my mind doesn't go blank in the 6 weeks or whatever the time frame you have to complete these things by. She also mentioned HV and staff at Sure State Centres will help me. NPM has also pointed me in the direction of some websites to help when DS was first diagnosed. I never really followed it up as he is doing so well and doesn't really seem like he needs that much support but like Floss says if we are entitled to it be silly not to apply.

As for work playing a prank it all started after my H made a few comments on a FB page of a local DJ regarding English Defence League marches happening this weekend. Producer of radio show emailed my H and asked him to take part in an on air discussion but he declined as it was during work time.
Anyway he must have told work colleagues so they secretly rang his mobile pretending to be staff on the radio show saying they were glad he was going to participate and that in 3 seconds he would be on the air. Cue much complaining from my H who also text me saying how unhappy he was that they'd disreagrded his decision. Fell for it hook, line and sinker :rotfl::rotfl: Don't you just hate April Fools Day :D

  • Bitsy......get it applied for, it all helps and he is entitled to it. It doesnt matter if he isnt severe as there are 3 levels....DS gets high rate but even middle or low rate is a help. Have a look on the website I told you about. It is very time consuming to fill in. I think you need to bear in mind that strangely enough the person making the decision may not know much about autism so you have to explain every detail of how and why he needs extra help even if it seems like you are stating the obvious!:D.
It is also quite a negative form as you are pointing out what your child cannot do over and over again but it is worth it...there are many things we could not afford to get for DS if we didnt get it.
If you need any help give me a shout;)
Will try to get on properly tomorrow, just a quick visit now:o

    Happy Birthday N9eav :T

    Evening all!

Thanks for the nice wishes Essex Girl, have to say we were also pretty !!!!!! but the date is so memorable as it's April Fools day and OH thinks it's funny to make jokes about it at my expense, got the worst ever joke played on him, etc. etc.

Had a pretty uneventful day, although had to consult the union for some advice about some stuff at work, will keep you informed once I get things moving. Not going to MILs as I've made a deal with OH I will get some stuff done that's outstanding paperwork wise, and want it out of the way before the end of the weekend. Don't want to do it, keep procrastinating, but can't any longer. Need some hugs I think to get me through. :(

Nic, so glad to hear Charlie's getting on well, Coco is fine, she's got a wee cold, took her to the vets today to make sure that was all!

Have a good evening all. Bitsy, I agree with NPM and everyone else, apply for it, I know at least 3 people who get it who play the system so they don't need to work :mad::mad:

That reminds me, got some interesting news from MIL. I was about to tell you the battle we had to get her DLA, but remembered that she had some great news last night. She saw her respiratory consultant yesterday, apologies I can't remember his proper title, and he has agreed to put her forward for a heart and lung transplant. It will be a long process, and she has to be approved by the transplant coordinating people, and to go to Newcaste for tests, but at least they are considering it now. She wrote them a huge letter last summer demanding she be considered as she has never smoked or drank all her life, and people who have illnesses connected to their lifestyles get transplants, so why shouldn't she. Good for her, it seems to have fallen on the right ears. So, so hope for her, which is lovely. Trying not to get our hopes up, it will be a long process, and she is not the fittest woman in the world just now, but if it gives her some hope, and makes her take better care, that can only be a good thing. She says her aim is to see DGKs all settled in their lives, I hope she does, too. Sorry, I've some over all emotional there. I had a younger cousin who succumbed to Cystic Fibrosis at the age of 13 before he ever got the chance of a transplant, and thinking about the whole thing is a bit overwhelming. If you want to donate your organs, make sure you register as a donor, please!

On that cheery note, I'll bid you all goodnight!

jellybaby.. what is it with men and kitchens? - I always know when DH is cooking because the smoke alarm goes off every time:eek::rotfl:

Keep warm and safe everyone xx

My boyfriend is obsessed with kitchen equipment! We have a blender, hot chocolate maker, donut maker, ice cream maker, Tassimo, magic bullet, nicer dicer, 2 tabletop ovens and that's just what i can think of from the top of my head!:rotfl: Luckily though he is good at doing his share around the house we just don't seem to have got in a routine yet, but thanks for the tips!!!

Bitsy- I work for the NHS, the key to getting as much DLA as possible is to stress how much care and/or supervision your DS needs at night time - Good Luck x x x x
Hmmm will add up debt and stick on on later!

Jellybaby, meant to say to you, try vista print for your car signs, you can get them almost for nothing there if they have an offer on, and business cards etc. too.

Thanks. I did have a look at the websites you mentioned (don't want you thinking I wasn't interested) but I guess because his needs aren't that great I didn't think we'd really qualify. I provide support for DS because as a mum that's what I do. Just assumed that most parents have to support their children to a certain extent :o

    anyway will look into it.
Sorry to totally derail the Daily thread :o You guys are really the only other people I can speak to. Friends don't have any experience and are busy with their own families.

jellybaby - thanks for the tip :)

    Evening all

just popped backto catch up a bit
WM on atm trying to take advantage of cheaper leccie at night.
Bitsy I gey DLA because of my knees, asthma and other problems that I would rather not go in to ...... I was turned down when I first applied so I let it drop for a year, but then things got worse and CAB advised me to try again - I was still turned down CAB took my case on and arranged an appeal tribunal which was nerve wracking ....but the tribunal ruled unanimously in my favour so I was awarded it ....You have to remember that DLA is usually dealt with by office staff with no medical background and just go by a set of guidelines.

The point that I am trying to make is don't give up if you are refused but you will probably not be....my advice is to get as much medical evidence ( Drs letters, HV letter, social worker etc etc) before you apply.

Good luck to you and I am sure that you will keep us posted.
