Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Good afternoon everyone, it's so nice being able to post on here knowing I'll be able check on here regulalry as I now have home internet access!
nic1 lou, what breed of spaniel do you have? I have a 1 year old chihuahua and we are on the waiting list with chihuahua rescue uk to him a girlfirend.
My bf and I are going food shopping tonight. We were both on annual leave last week so ate up the freezer (there was one disaster where my bf tried out his new george foreman countertop oven a burnt the bottom of a whole chicken and filled the whole house with smoke!:rotfl:) I am hoping to plan some OS recipes for next week.
I have been in my new house 5 months now. It's my first home and I am finding it hard to keep on top of things , i.e. it's always a bit messy. I am planning to start the flylady, but did anyone else find it hard to get in the swing of things when they first moved out of home?
I have just started my own make-up business, I am also an avon lady so have ordered loads of stuff which I am hoping will arrived today. I also spotted a shop that makes signs for cars so I will look into advertising on my car.
Hugs to everyone, I am so happy to be part of the gang! xxxxxxxxxHmmm will add up debt and stick on on later!0 -

Afternoon peeps,
still very windy and cold here atm.
Sistercas - I waited for the sleet to stop before going to the park with the houndies and got caught in the snow which started less than 5 minutes after we left the house. I want to hibernate!
Well the houndies are now snoozing away happily - not for long though as i`ve finished the dusting and the hoover will be out shortly
I may leave them in peace for an extra half hour and clean the bathroom first but they will have a rude awakening at some point, Mum will be here later and i`ve bought her some lovely hyacinths for easter.
The birds have been fed and i`ve made an apple cake for later and also made up some sandwich spread for DH to use for work. He said he is getting fed up with cheese *rolls eyes* but there are plenty of other things that he can take but he just can`t be bothered. I`ve also sliced a kiwi fruit into some yogurt for him tomorrow for a change. The house smells lovely as i`ve a cinnamon and fruit loaf in the breadmaker so he can have something different for breakfast and i`ve defrosted some hm pate too.
The sun has actually made its way out whilst i`m typing so long may it continue :j
Esmf - You have a pm.
Gemmabuckle - Hope that the vendors make their mind up soon, what a cheek! I hate timewasters.
Right i`m off to start the upstairs, have a sunny afternoon peeps.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Good afternoon dear friends,
I hope this finds everyone happy and in good health.
So much has happened since I last posted of which more later.
Firstly you will not be surprised to find me asking for advice(again:o:D)
Thank goodness you are all so kind :T you make my life so much easier.
In fact this lovely thread is my first point of reference!
I have made a few Simnel cakes and was feeling rather proud of my efforts(still am to be honest)
However, my DW pointed out that we are still wasting far too much food:o:o:o but to be honest we don't know what to do with it:o:o(
I know I know) Just to make things worse its always the same food. Pasta.
We both tend to cook far too much pasta that then just sits there till I either put it out for the birds or bin it. Is there any way to reuse cooked pasta?
Any ideas received with eternal gratitude. As ever thank you.
On to other news. So much has happened that I almost don't know where to start.
To keep it brief. We lost my DW's lovely grandmother suddenly in early Nov.
She was a wonderful lady who was full of life and lived every day to the full. She was 83(although looked about 70) and still helped at various events in her village, regularly picked up shopping for an "old lady" that lived across from her(she is 72) and had two holidays in Texas on a dude ranch at 76 and 78.
She was a great support at the worst point of our lives and her support helped get us back on track. She will be missed we celebrated her fantastic life.
We also have a lovely new house, (new to us-its pretty old) a garden three times the size of our old one(which was already quite big) ,room to extend if we need to and even more wildlife than we had at the other house:j
Oh and we also have another cat(stopping at three) both the new house and our new cat(like the house new to us ) are linked but it is a long story and I always write far too much.
DW is is very happy and very busy. Her career is progressing well.
I am loving cooking and have been trying lots of new stuff.
Anyway, As ever waffle waffle-sorry.
I hope everyone is safe today special thoughts for all our Scottish and NI friends today. Hope you are all safe and warm.
Thanks as ever.

Catman, I know it sounds basic, but maybe you could weigh out the "correct" portion amount for you & Mrs Catman, and them see how much it is in a mug or cup, so you can then just put the right amount into that mug/cup when you are cooking?
Me & my OH had to do this, as we were cooking too much but eating it too, it turned out we were having enough for 4 between 2 of us0 -
Afternoon.
busy day, have only got time for a quick read and run before school pick up.
Not much OS going on apart from cooking tea. Have done no baking for at least a week (no doubt my waistline with thank me). want to start doing lots of things but just don't seem to have the time or know where to start
Health visitor just been to catch up and see how we are doing after DS diagnosis. She's pointed out lots of things I do to support him that with other 4 year olds I wouldn't have to do so will perhaps think more about applying for DLA - honestly didn't think we'd qualify as I guess I don't view him as being that severe
Sorry not got time for individual replies today (sorry) but hugs to you all and will pop back when I have more time.
Tea tonight will be something with eggs. H is constantly feeling tired and with the amount of tea he drinks I have gently suggested that he might be iron deficient. He seems to think having eggs for tea will cure it - still it's a step in the right direction. Oh and work played a cracking April Fools joke on him apparantly :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -
Hello again
Just popped back in to say:beer: Happy First Kiss Anniversary to JackieGlasgow:beer:you have a good memory! Mind you I think I was slightly inebriated (sp) with OH & my first kiss so thats a good reason I can't really remember it :rotfl:
Catman - what about pasta salad for lunch, our favourite is tuna.

Hi again,
I have heard from DD, she is safely back. It turns out that she wasn't in control of the motor cycle, she had a driver. I wouldn't have worried so much if I'd known. Apparently I should have deduced that from the words "I've hired a motor cycle".
I've found out i have to stay late at work so I am having a short break now. It's quite good really as I need to catch up.
It means I'll probably not get any baking done until tomorrow though. We'll be having quiche (M&S not home made), baked potato, sweetcorn and courgettes for dinner.0 -

Have a go, it may give you a bit of extra cash to help when he needs particular things / software to help him along, and that means you wouldn't have to fret about where the cash would come from if there is a little stash for DS's stuff0
