Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Thursday 1st April. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
HSINhouseWindow02HL.gif Morning lovely OS-ers!
Butterfly - Hope all goes well at the hospital today hon. Lamewolf is fine btw.
Julie - well done on the continued weight loss
Stroppy - Step away from the Twinks! They will NOT help the WW campaign as it's impossible to stop at one. giggle.gif
jc - Hope your back pain has improved hon and I know you must be feeling the stress of waiting for the upcoming trial.
Candy - Hope Boo enjoyed her first birthday. I don't do 'Facespace' or 'mybook',giggle.gif so any chance of you posting a pic on here please?
Noahs - lovely to see you posting and I hope your LO copes with the holiday in a way that brings the least amount of stress to you both.
JackieG - LameWolf posts at least once or twice a day over on flyladies so am happy to report she is still around and doing OK. I too have seen Cranky around too but not sure about celyn.
csarina - Gosh what a day you had. Glad the power is back and you are both OK.
topsyturvey - I am pleased your mum is home and feeling better.
JackieO - I wondered why they carried on with the trip when the weather was obviously so appalling. So sad that poor girl died.
Lowsey - Glad things are sorted with your SD. It sounds like she was playing both her parents off against each other so well done to your husband for sticking to his guns.
Jellybelly - Glad to have you back and looking forward to you becoming a reg too!
Well the weather took Devon by surprise. We had snow on Dartmoor and a gritter sent out there in the early hours actually slipped off the road and ended up on its side. Driver was safe though. Can't believe that school let those poor kids go out on the coach in Scotland in such appalling weather - that poor girls family...
Thank you for all the good wishes for my OH, he was much better yesterday.
HShungry.gif Breakfast will be this glass of orange juice next to me and a packet of peanuts. (Dont look at me like that!smile_tongue.gif) Lunch will be boiled eggs and toastand dinner will be a cheesy, ham, pasta-y thing.
Ok, this is odd, when I posted yesterday it was 0515 and I edited it at 0608. However this morning when I check it, it said I posted at 0415. Has anyone else noticed this? Is the site tracking pre BST times? (and no, this is not an April fool... )
I hope everyone has as good a day as is possible. With love, light and warm gentle HShuggies.gif to anyone who wants one.

Good morning, MSD - thanks for reminding me that it is now 1st April! Where on earth has that last three months gone? Glad your OH is better now.

JackieO - I can't believe they let that coach full of children go out in those conditions. It was the first thing I thought about when I saw it on the news. What on earth were they thinking? The news said that they left before daylight, so I just can't understand why no-one could see the danger, especially as they knew that they would have to make a return journey and that the weather would be so much worse. I would certainly have kept my children at home.

We've been in France for a whole year now (and I still can't get used to how the French drive - or rather, don't know how to!). We've had many challenges, mostly to do with the red tape here, which is horrendous. They just love to send you threatening final demands for bills that you know you've paid and, even when you send them proof that you've paid them, they ignore it! I've been told that the French will pay any bill that gets sent to them without questioning it, so I think that is why France is weathering the recession better than most countries - it just keeps asking people for money! The powers that be certainly aren't used to being challenged so I don't think a French version of MSE would ever take off here! Anyway, rant over - although I could go on!

Well, today the ironing calls - it's been calling for days now, so I'd better get it done. I have lots of sorting out to do because we have to move furniture around for the next few days while the roof comes off and the kitchen gets demolished. I just hope it's not too disruptive for the next couple of weeks.

Dinner tonight will be pork chops, probably with roast pots, courgettes and carrots, with gravy. I can't think of anything more inspiring than that - my kitchen goddess mojo is waning at the moment because I know I won't have a proper kitchen for a while.

Anyway, I hope all is well with everyone and that those who have been snowed under again are coping with the cold.

    Morning peeps

fffreezing here this morning brrrr! the wind is howling in the chimney and i`ve just let younger houndie out into the garden and its snowed

Just checked the forecast and we may get some more later, it is only a light covering so lets hope that it stays that way. It feels very cold but if the wind drops i don`t think that it will be as bitter.

Plans for today include blitzing the upstairs and running round the downstairs with the hoover and the duster for a quick swish and swipe. I have some batch cooking to do too but i think that i`ll fit that in later rather than sooner.

Other than that its just the usual houndie walking and a quick visit to the shop for something that i forgot yesterday. I can pick up the cleaning whilst i`m there so not a wasted trip.

Visitors will be here later so we shall drink plenty of tea whilst we catch up, i`m off to crank the heating up a bit :D

Have a good day peeps, keep safe and warm.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

    Good Morning All

Today was the first time this week that I woke before the alarm - think I have at last got used to the time change.

Think will have a housework day today, also want to pop to the craft shop in Tiptree for some stuff for a card I want to make for the weekend. Trip to the library is needed as I didn't get there on Tuesday (only open part time)

So will concentrate on ironing and housework today, still no menu plan this week :o so will have a route around in the freezers in a while.

DD is at home today, school sent her home yesterday as was feeling sick, you have to be very ill before the medical room send you home, it was only a half day today anyway so will let her lie in. Must remember to text the school.

That Coach crash really upset me can't imagine sending your child off like that & them never coming home.

Anyway, hope you all have good days.x

Diva - just checked my post and it's saying the right time for me.x

    Morning.

Cold here too. Last day today and then a few days off. Poisson d'avril ? eh There were jokes going around work this week, like a pair of binoculars with blackened eye pieces. Several fell for it, it was quite funny.... I had some ideas for today, but never got around to it.

Daughters birthday yesterday and son's tomorrow so a bit of an expensive few days. Party tonight, so 5 x 16 year olds eating Dominos pizza and watching movies all night...... :o

Best get on, work to go to.

    Cheers

    morning!

    happy April Fool's Day:D
am relieved to have 2 days off now:j unfortunately it means I'm working all weekend and bank holiday Monday but it will be a quiet weekend as 2 service users are going home to their families.
I'm hoping to get DS1s room done over the next 2 days.
Later today I'm dropping H off at a funeral while I get some groceries - his customer who he was really fond of died after a second stroke. DH used to pop in every day and have a coffee with him and keep an eye on his as did lots of other people in their village. He was a very popular gentleman who in his younger days was a brilliant scientist who invented some type of microwave oven. DH will really miss him.

I had some good news last night:j My Mum and sister are both getting new cars and my Mum is buying my sisters old one(a very nice little saxo) and giving it to me:j I'm having some of my inheritance early:D my poor car is on its last legs so this is fantastic news for me:D

Probably curry for tea tonight(quorn for me - chicken for the others)

Diva - glad your DH is better x

I didn't read the thread the last 2 days - no time so hope everyone else is ok.

Take care all especially those who have got the dreadful weather x

Morning folks, hope everyone is good today.

My work is headline news this morning!!! Inverness railway station and two stuck trains. What a nightmare winter it has been can't wait 'til this weather is over for the season.

Not much planned for today, do my accounts and make some broth for GF tea, everything she is eating just now is disagreeing with her so she is trying to weed out what triggers the reactions.

If weather stays nice might go out birdwatching later.

Have a good day everyone and will pop back later on.

Good Morning everyone well its actually sunny here at the moment but I don't think it will last as its that very bright sharp sun that usually means there's rain later on IYSWIM.
Well after the school run I have a couple of small errands to do then its off to church for my DGS end of term service at 10.15,(must make sure to be well wrapped up as st margarets is known for its chilliness. Then I am goning down to the Savacentre in Hempstead Vally and going to get some Daffs for my eldest DD (she is dieting so chocolate easter eggs are out) plus a couple of bits of shopping to get then back home for lunch.I have to pick the boys up after school this afternoon as their dad has an early parents meeting with the teacher of one of them.just to say how he is getting on.so I will take the boys to my house for some juice and cakes then he will pick them up around 4.30.By which time I may get to put my feet up for half and hour and do some knitting.Dinner tonight will be my favourite tune & sweetcorn salad with some of tesco's 'italian duo' pasta. Its scruntios stuff and you get a huge bowl for £2.00 Lasts me for several days. That just about takes care of my day I think I do hope the weather gets a bit better soon as I am off on my holidays in two weeks time and I can see me and my friend June sitting in a cottage in the cotswolds freezing at this rate.Hope everyone has a good day,I'll perhaps pop back later
p.s. no sign of 'Basil' my blackbird he seems to be MIA at the moment ,no worries he will turn up when he gets hungry I expect
    Cheers JackieO xx

Hi everyone, early post forme before I go to work. Diva I'm on Facebook but I don't really participate. I only joined so that I could stalk DD (which she knows). It's been very handy while she has been away because I've often been able to log on to find she's posted something and I know she's still OK. I am worried today though because she told me she was hiring a motorbike to ride 50km into the wilds of Cambodia. She said she would have a helmet but I don't know if she was lying to try to reassure me. I hate "donor cycles" and will be relieved to hear that she is back safely.

Last day at work before the weekend which i am relieved about. I want to try a new recipe off the "Pienearwoman's" site tonight. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Just checked the forecast and we may get some more later,

Just wondered where you are in Yorkshire as we're coming up to our house in Yorkshire today - Near Richmond. Spending Easter there - hoping to get some gardening done - rather than clearing the snow!

Today have the end of term cake sale to organise - so am surrounded by cakes at the moment - just the thing for breakfast! Children are behaving like possessed devils - so the sooner I can pack them off to school for the day the better!!!

Will be around and about over Easter - so much to do - and then to go and see my MIL as well. She doesn't sound too well, but OH isn't really talking about it very much.

Lots of Easter love (and eggs!) to everyone who wants them!!!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Morning all
I'm back to posting here for a few days, no work today, but going over to finish clearing out friends Mum's flat, we did bedroom & lounge in half term, going to do the kitchen today & that just leaves the furniture.
Cooked breakfast for hubby & dropped him at the station then on to the butchers & bought some ham for sandwiches & a piece of beef for the weekend. Washing is on the line DW has finished & will be emptied soon, sausages defrosting ready for casserole later & I have a couple of letters I need to post, I think thats it for me today.
I had a lovely surprise yesterday, some beautifully soft cream baby wool arrived in the post from a lovely kind MSE'r, I shall knit some preemie clothes with it, I'll post pics when they are done.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
