Child benefit is funnily enough a benefit if u have a child. You get that benefit wether your living together, married or single. I didnt mention it as i thought it was pretty much obvious that she's claming it as everyone who has children is entitled to it until the child reaches 16.Rent?
Or does that get paid also?
Obviously some of you are either blind or plane ignorant. She doesnt get ANY benefits as i've said already. She pays the rent, council tax herself and doesnt recieve any housing benefit or council tax benefit apart from a 25% single persons discount.
I only posted this thread to ask if she would be entitled to it or not.0 -
Yes but its still classed as a benefit! Regardless if everyone who has a child is entitled to it or not.0

Don't worry. Nearly everyone gets child benefit. If you have explained everything to the relevant bodies, you will be fine. Your case is a bit different from the norm in that you do stay over and have family days out etc, but you've been honest which they've accepted.0 -

Thank you. I have explained the situation to the HMRC and they're happy with the fact that im not living there, so she'll put a claim in for tax credits and see what she gets.Coming at it from a completely different angle: could you not try something like relate and see if you can make it work?
You clearly want to be together so it seems mad for you and your child that you can't/won't get over your difficulties!
Maybe it's time you both took a good long look at yourselves and started acting a bit more grown up now you have a child to think of?
Sorry if that seems harsh but I find it hard to believe two fully grown adults, and parents at that, cannot get their emotions in check and either live together, or part.
You sound like a couple of spoilt teens!
After reading that i think i agree with you. Im going to sit down and talk to her tonight and see if we can really make a proper go of with living together. At least that way all the snobby people on here will be happy that she wont be claiming tax credits.0
