Aw that's a shame debidoodle. I had a birthday card from a woman at school whom I barely know and yet get no acknowledgement from my own family. Gah!
    .

My sister and I haven't spoken for some years now. I love her very much but also find I am unabe to cope with her destructive nature. I'd love to send her a card, just write to each other annually, but....boundaries are difficult. Sometimes the lack nof contact isn't lack of love: for me I feel I love my sister more when not in touch with her:o

    Good afternoon all

Well no use ups to report this week and no spends either so I am pleased to report that in April I managed to spend only £3.74 which was on necessary spends - :j

May have to spend just a little more than that this month but will try to keep it under £10.

See you all in the May thread.

Yeah im more of a 'spend too much money on rubbish' kind of person, or shopaholic if you want to put a label on it :-)

I do have a loan and a mortgage which takes a chunk out of my wages each month, and being a single parent to a 4 year old doesnt help. I just need to kick the spending habit and free up that extra cash to start saving for our future.

No savings as of yet, again working 40 hours a week and being a single parent with a mortgage etc means there is no spare cash at the end of the month. I feel if i stop the silly spending on clothes/toiletries/etc i can pay off my debts quicker and start to build up some sort of savings fund.

So, i am starting this now!

Will buy a diary to monitor spends, that way i cant ignore it can i!!

Been reading some of the messages on here and the sense of community and the ideas that get bounced around are fantastic, i would go as far as saying inspirational!

    Hi Vikki

I am in much the same position as you. Single mum to a 5 year old boy but only working part time. I too was wasting loads of money on makeup and clothes which I think wasa guilt thing and help to make up to me and DS for splitting up with my ex-husband.

However since the start of the year I have been doing this challenge and the 2010 Crazy Clothes Challenge https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/32337451#Comment_32337451 (sorry don't know how to do the short thread thing). Both of which have really helped curb my spending and given me a lot of lovely people to chat to when I feel down.

    Good luck with your challenges

Missed your post earlier roshydoshy. What a lovely saying. LiR, shame you have a difficult relationship with your sister. I think I'm probably the most normal person in my family. Lol at that though with all my issues re- hoarding etc!

Well it's the end of another month and I've bought nothing this month! Not used a huge amount up either but I'm getting there (and not adding to the stash has got to be good :))

Copies from fashionista thread...although I think think this thread and the regular skincare should take the blame....

I have just had a great experience. Was sitting chatting to people when one woman said, jokily..''.what do you know.....when you get as old as me.....''....and I gaped at her and asked how old she was and she said 33...and I started to laugh.

    I am reliably informed I look 26 years old:beer::beer::j:j:j:T:T:T

    edit(the youngest guess was 24...)

Only spends this month have been on mouthwash, toothpaste & deodorant :j Total spend £3.50 (plus 100 extra Boots points)

Plodding on using up my shower gel, bubble bath & body butter mountains - slowly but surely wins the 'race' - the stash now looks smaller even after just 4 months :)
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
