Dont Apply To A And L Yet!

You don't have to apply for the overdraft at the account opening stage to get it at 0% as far as I know, only the PRS.0

I have an old A & L online savings account with a couple of quid in it paying 4.25% I think. Does this mean I wont be considered to be a new customer if I apply for the premier direct current account and 12% regular saver in Sept. I left it open to save re applying if the rates went up? This plan is obviously flawed so I am closing it today. There must be a lot of savers being duped into keeping larger sums in older accounts for this policy to pay.
Also please can anyone link me to the thread that relates to First Directs proposed fee introduction mentioned in this thread0 -
Hmmm Alliance and leicester, souns like a good idea which is why I had moved my account to them when A & L was forst recommended on the site, except for the fact
A) they take the full 4 days to transfer funds, when you are paying in from another accountThey won't increase your overdraft temporarily if you haven't received your expenses back as freqyently happens to me.
C) When you complain they suggest you take out a loan!
So though it looks good, if i had my time again i would have moved my account to them. Now my credit rating will be affected as theyappear to have a very bizare way of making bill payments as they don't send it on the day its requested ( i.e. midnight) like other banks.E

Does anyone else have negative feedback on A&L in terms of practicalities like the ones Evie P mentions? We're considering moving over completely from First Direct, so any comments gratefully received before we jump...MFW #185

I have never had any problem with recurring/future dated transactions taking longer than they should. As far as I'm aware, these are sent in the small hours on the date specified, as you would expect. However, I would ALWAYS ensure a transfer is sent in time to reach the destination account the working day before it is to be drawn on (or wait for it to show in your available balance and do the second transfer manually).0 -

As said above, in a word, NO. They only mean existing relationship with regard to having a premier account already, not savings account, normal current accounts etc......
By the way, don't expect to be able to get both the Premier Direct current account paying 6.1% and the Premier Regular Saver paying 12% together.0 -
Does anyone think they may withdraw the recommend a friend in conjunction with the new interest rates? Or at least lower it back to £25? Not sure if I should wait!"I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0
