But powdered milk is like SOO expensive though I need some for bread making....

I don't 'do' CBS as like they're mostly on Sabbath and I don't shop on Sabbath (though had whoopsie and bought an Avenir bike pannier about 1.30am having been coveting them like ALL night).....

Anyhow training scheme DEFFO starts 3rd May (yes I know it's a holiday) so looking forward to a good walk down there :). Will need to 'treat' myself to something special for my MP3 player to keep me company. Maybe I'll have quit the cigs by then (here's hoping...D-Day is kind of the 22nd with patches and puffer but I'm far from confident). so will have the £££.

Very tired today following that late night and have laundry in. MUST go and buy more laundry credit and get some insurance paid this am and get more milk (think I'm going to try one green top and one blue and water down) and then like I think I'm vegging this pm then free tea tonight @ the mission.

Tomorrow is big W order :P. and a meeting (but no free lunch :() at 11. Then need to go get some cheap flour (saver) to mix with other...(would get today but methinks I'm too tired. Unless I go tonight?). and go from there...

The best thing about FL is that I have money for the big things cos I save on the little. Like right now am saving for a wee break in Ed in 2 weeks then will be saving for Ma's visit then a proper holiday (2 weeks - budget about £100. Friends in Inverness and camping in Skye). in June :)

    Hope everyone is else....

    Hugs

We got our glasshouse (secondhand) up and sorted over the weekend, and my digin seeds came the other week so have sown the seeds in pots and put them into to glasshouse (with bubblewrap as extra insulation), hopefully we shall be eating home grown salads this summer.

I have to prepare the bed to sow the carrots and beetroot, spring onions have gone in, as have mint, basil, coriander and parsley.
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
    So we’re empty nesters.
    Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman
  • Had to buy the first TV I've bought in 20 years - £449.

So am now pretty behind on my challenge of living off £5K. I'm considering changing my target to £6K which might be a bit more realistic.

    Erme, it's not that expensive,Tesco value one is £1.99 makes 8 pints, 4 pints for £1 ;)
Tesco skimmed milk £1.49 makes 5 pints, must be cheaper at asda, but I dont have one near me to check, and of course, you don't need to make a full pint if it's just for tea, just add a couple of spoonfuls. One tub lasts me a year as I only use it for eeekkkk moments..... run out of milk and can't be asked to go out in rain/gale/cold etc:D

    :eek::eek::eek: how much:eek::eek::eek:

last time I brought one is was £79 :D still working 15 years later, does takes 20 seconds for the picture to warm up and another 2 mins for it to get a good colour and crisp picture, if it doesn't work when we go digital, then I'm going without one.:D
  • Hello everyone,
OH, Fishfinger and I all went to the zoo yesterday for a nice walk. Very frugal as my dad is a keeper there and thus we can get in free. He was playing the proud grandad and showing fishfinger off to all his work mates for most the morning so we had a nice coffee and cozy moment together while she was being passed around the zoo staff for cuddles lol.
Inspired by someone else on here we decided to be creative with our lunch rather than buying some sarnies from the tesco meal deal. We took a knife from home and brought a reduced loaf of bread for 35p and 2 little jars of sandwich paste for 24p each. Then OH being jolly clever found reduced egg custard tarts for 35p. We never find reduced egg custards and they are my absolute faves. We also nabbed a 12 pack of cheap crisps for 45p, and a bottle of cream soda for 55p. All in all we spend £2.18 instead of £4 so quite a saving and we have the extra crisps, bread and paste for todays lunch and possible tomorrow as well. I was really pleased with our frualling and OH said he enjoyed eating all the sarnies he liked rather than having to make do with one soggy premade one. He's a big guy my OH and especially walking around all day makes him very hungry.
Today is a resting day with OH, we've had a little tidy and a spot of lunch. His mum and sisters are due any minute so I must rush off.
Enjoy the lovely weather ladies and gents

    Hiya,

I've not posted for a while, but keep on reading. I've been in bed most of the day as I am not very well, but I have ran a bath and will go out shortly. I need to get some bits for a coffee morning i am doing tomorrow. I'll need to be away around 6am I think.

My system seems to be working well, but I feel that I am becoming complacent, and need to get back to basics, so will need to get a plan together, when I am feeling a bit better.

I'm glad that everyone is plodding along and hope everyone is well. I see that fishfinger has a lot of fans FR, I'm not surprised, she is a wee cutie, I saw the photo of her you posted.

Will check in later all. xx

Lidls dried milk is 1.59 and makes 4.5L. I stopped buying liquid milk about 2 years ago and make up the dried a pint at a time in a jug in the fridge and can't tell the difference. I used to waste such a lot of fresh stuff as I only have milk in hot drinks and for bread making. I've tried Tescos own basics stuff which is foul and was more expensive than lidls. I read somewhere that if you made it up and kept it in the fridge then you forgot after a while that it's dried. My mum who always says she would know the difference has it when she comes and she's never said a word.
