It looks like my next attempt at growing my own is gaining momentum
Managed to get some of those black flower buckets from MrM for 99p--think there's five or six in the bundle for that price & I deliberately looked for the largest dimension--& yesterday I found the highly-recommended multi-purpose compost on offer @ 3x70L bags for £10, as opposed to £3:95 each :TPlastic bottle tops & milk cartons are being carefully washed to be chopped up to use as drainage & there are two massive bags of shredded personalised paperwork to mix in for a mulch so if the blummin stuff refuses to grow again this year, I think I shall be entering a private clinic for extensive therapy :rotfl:
My next mission is to track down the best price for that rastafarian chap's delicious sauces  altho I was reading the label on a sort of ketchup & it said it could be used for all manner of things. A little put off by the £1:85 price tag & also that it needs to be kept in the fridge & used within 4 wks of opening; there's not a lot of room for the first & I don't think we'll be eating it enough for the second

Whoop whoop, I know its not frugal but I have a whole £1 on the grand national, come on Black Apalachi.
Today is a quiet one, staying in but all the windows are wide open and the french doors are letting in a lovely breeze. Washing drying on the line nicely to.
I think I have killed my tomato seedlings so I may need to do some more tomorrow. Not to late is it???
Can't believe I didn't think about using the tubs in the garden, lol sometimes you just can't see the obvious can you!!! Right off to get settled with a cuppa for the race, might even break out the biccys.
Good Luck all

Hi everyone,
Just thought I would post a link to this article I read this morning about giving up shopping, quite inspirational. Also, if anyones buys The Mail, todays weekend supplement is a blitz special and has a few good articles re: wartime eating, digging for victory etc.
And speaking of digging for victory, I planted some of my veg today. Got courgettes, carrots, brocolli, and salad leaves in, plus some hollyhocks and hostas for Mum...fingers crossed it all grows! We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
Evening everyone
Had a lovely day - went out for brunch and then spent the afternoon sunbathing round the poolnot bad at all!
Today is also my 9th NSD of April, which is fab
I've started my own diary on the DFW Diary forum if anyone wants to take a peek too - it's to keep me on track!Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Yes I'm still here but I just checked and I've not posted in over a month. I've just been really busy at work and been emotionally up and down with TTC (how do people cope with this, or how are people able to just relax and believe it will happen eventually with out stressing each month).
Hope it happens for you soon.
Having to be frugal with my time as I'm struggling as you know. Managed to plant up 3 whole trays of seeds: parsley, mixed veggies and butterhead lettuce. Already harvesting plenty coriander, baby leaf salads and parsley from the baths we're set up in our conservatory and basil seems to be doing a bit better atm too. Can't wait to plant out in the next month. Trying to keep on top of the planting an potting on doing things in short 20 - 30 mins bursts as recommended by grandma.
Went out today in our camper and had a picnic with some of our home grown stuff - bliss!

Been reading every day, even if not posting.
Belated birthday wishes, ((hugs)), and well dones as appropriate to all
Had a read of the article yesterday, and was impressed. Went back and read the comments this morning, and am another who's shocked by some of them!
Yes, my spending has dropped from 'on a whim' to 'carefully considered'.
Yes, I'm doing it because of a drop in income rather than because I 'feel like trying it out'
BUT, if I still had my well paid job I'm not sure I'd be thinking about where I was spending my money any more than I did 5 years ago (probably even less so, due to mortgage payments and several insurance premiums no longer being payable)- so I applaud her for doing this while she has the financial means to carry on as before if she wanted to :T
Not a great deal to report from here. Did a bit more towards my dejunking yesterday (having been over to see GD2 with her birthday card/pressie which was owing from Thursday, and then out to see some crafting friends I've not seen for months), and am about to get off my back-side and get on with a lot more today.
Also need to pop into work to see if a shift swap for this week has been settled on (one lady wants to swap her day off from Tuesday to Wednesday which generally means a swap with me, but only way I can accomodate her due to school run/voluntary work is if another lass then swaps Wednesday morning and Thursday evening with me!)
Not seen OH at all this week (my extra hours at work and his pre-booked commitments for this weekend put paid to that), but have had phone calls and texts. He's away from Monday until next weekend (abroad with family, so I doubt I'll even have calls/texts to keep me company), but as I'm off work a week on Monday we're hoping to spend the whole day doing something together then
