Afternoon all - Candygirl it has been a car boot day for me too. I can be there for hours, even if I don't buy anything - its great to have a mooch. All life is there they say, and its true. Some of the stuff you wouldn't touch with a bargepole, but other items are real finds. If people haven't tried car boot sales - do go.....extremely frugal if you are careful. Huge free range eggs for £1.50 for 11 (it was £2.50 for a doz, but got a reduction as 1 had been broken!), a Slumberdown double 15 tog feather and down quilt for £1 (yes, it needs cleaning, but that is all - and a good investment I think, we will be as warm as toast in bed this year) books at 25p each including a fantastic pop up book on castles for twin DGS aged 6 which they will LOVE, a scarf for DD Xmas stocking (hope she isn't reading this!) and some lovely candles which will look great burning in the darker winter evenings. Cooked a half price chicken up yesterday and we have curry tonight, carcass used for soup and the rest of the meat portioned in the freezer ready for meals next week when I am away with work and OH will be left to his own devices, bless him. My free Dig In seeds arrived yesterday, so are being dealt with bit by bit. Am feeling very happy with my lot today. I am a lucky woman. Its the little things that make you lucky , so although things might look bleak for some at the mo, I hope a little thing comes along today which will make you feel good. God Bless0

I finally found a spare half-hour to watch the new gardening programme on channel 2 & now I'm even more excited by my little garden than before!
Iggie loves the pea-pod salady stuff that I've only found in MrS, & the young lady on the telly grows the same thing from dried peas! Guess what I have in the darkest corner of my store cupboard, bought 'just in case' the bad weather should stop me getting to the shops :j I "love it when a plan comes together" :rotfl:

Hi everyone,
I had not read the comments to the article earlier but I have now - some of them are a bit withering. But, as CG said, thats the Daily Mail.
Had a really good day at the carboot, I bought: Whittard coffee set (new in box) £2 (was thinking to give as a hamper gift, with some nice coffee, spoons etc), two tops 50p each, new with tags shoes £2 AND....a pair of black jeans which actually fit me!!! They are the right length and everything, plus they cost the grand sum of 50p. So, revamping my wardrobe for uni is going well.We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
Blairweech Looks like we both had a good day! I always feel so self righteous when I get things from these - recycling and frugality http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/forum_smilies/wink.gif I have no idea why my wink wasnt a wink............sorry0

Have not been online a lot this week wanted to give the eyes a chance to really clear up. Anyone else noticed how the 2nd part of the challenge thread has slowed down from the 1st one? Anyways much easier to catch up with.
Have had a lovely weekend. The weather has been so nice it just had to be spent outdoors. Plenty of gardening going on bought one of the walkin plastic greenhouse thingys fro Instore on offer at £16.99. My Digin seeds arrived so these are now sown after 'help' from my DGS. Lawns have all been cut and a general tidy and a tript to the recycling centre. been a very frugal week really apart from the greenhouse. Only spend since Friday has been a tub of basics ice cream @92p and a pack of 21 cornets @ 75p much cheaper than the £1.30 the local ice cream shop charges for a small cornet. All meals for the last week have been from the freezer so not a lot spent there.
I have to ring the builder to arrange a start date for the adaptions on Monday so a major clear out will be in full swing. can't say I'm looking forward to having the builders in but can't wait for the end result.

Hi all
been reading every day, but not posting as much, really busy with new job etc. It actually hasn't made much difference to income, but is getting my back into the workplace.
Aim is to lose enough weight to get into the clothes I already have, so have been walking a lot and trying to be good and take lunch. You aren't allowed to eat anything except sandwiches at your desk, so that narrows the options down.
Today started off dull, but chanced getting some washing done, so glad I did. Have moved all my seedlings out into my little plastic greenhouse so hopefully will have some free veg this summer. Got salad stuff, and have planted garlic and some old potatoes that had sprouted - if they don't work I've lost nothing. Am trying aubergines, never done them before. Quite surprised how much I can get in the greenhouse ( which was a freebie off Mum when she got a new proper one). Have also planted a load of marigolds, which were on offer in BandQ -only £1 for 12 as they were damaged- I read somewhere they encourage aphids - is that right?Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

I can't concentrate and should be doing Sabbath reading/crochet...anyhow...just made a nice healthy banana and cinnamon toast and noticed that I've had those Mr. A smart price bananas for just under 2 weeks and THEY'RE STILL FRESH
. and like they are only £1 for a HUGE bag...
Anyone else noticed this bargain???
Bad news on the milk front...no milk tomorrow (@ this rate)...remember it last week...was a horrid stomach churning Monday with no milk. Hmmm...maybe I'll buy full fat this week and dilute? Anyone any better ideas? Normally I buy 1% so unsure of whether to use full fat or like green top? Don't know how stomach will react. It's GOT TO LAST THE WHOLE WEEK FOR ONCE :P. I just don't have the ££££ for it not to (on a food budget of £10 a week for self)..
Also thinking a very unsabbath thought of work order in on Tuesday and £30 of that stuff is for me with about £10 for Ma (so I won't get that back for 4 weeks) so a tad worried about monies... But the good news is I got a £13 refund off BT for an old account they hadn't deleted so must remind self to take that cheque to bank tomorrow.::t.
Anyhow off to crochet now....
Hope everyone is well...
Veg garden was good yesterday. We made bread on the fire - though I stunk of smoke afters...thinking of making my own bike panniers...anyone know of any patterns? Thinking of using curtain fabric with an insert of lino (cos they bodged the lino when they first did my kitchen floor and I have the offcuts still) on each side with a drawstring then flat flap... Tied onto rack with velcro ties perhaps... Kind of just flung over horse style? How does that sound guys? Too tricky for this novice sewer? We'll see. LOL...
Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather ....
Blessings

I know the problem. I've run out of milk and have been on black tea for the last couple of days.
I am forever running out of milk on day six or there abouts. I've had a look for a suitable sized jar.
Two litres divided by seven is 285 so the nearest jar I've got is a 340 gramme jam jar or about 5 / 6 th of the jar. Doesn't look like much once you've taken some out for cereals.
I've just rinsed out the jam jar and stuck it on the tea caddy as a reminder.
Hope this works as I'm fed up with black tea.0 -
