Very Happy Birthday  to all the birthday lasses.
MSD thank you for the youtube vid, he really does brighten up my day ,none of my Drs. ever looked like that;)

Did the school run this morning followed by a college drop-off for youngest DGD Holly. No sign of my blackbird this morning perhaps he's staying close to his nest as well.
Weather is appalling here ,but looking at Scotland and NI its even worse for them. Here its just wet'n'windy, staying indoors this afternoon and going to watch some catch-up t.v. Vigin media went down at 07.30 this morning and I have only just got it back It means no t.v. or broadband when it does that, nuisance as I was watching the news and weather at that time. still it seems to be o.k. for the moment .
Lunch will be some salmon fishcakes from the freezer with some mixed veg and dinner tonight is a nice steak I fished out of there as well.
Right I'm off to start cooking my lunch Hope everyone has a good day whatever the weather and if you've got snow stay indoors in the warm.
    Cheers JackieO xx

    Afternoon peeps:hello:
Cold and rainy but not that driving rain and gales from yesterday -walking home from the bus was an experience
DH has been doing wonders in our new kitchen. We decided against new cupboards in the end, so he's stripped years of gloss off the windows, sanded them and painted and they look fab. He has also painted the ceiling, taken out the horrible old striplight and put up a new silver circular fitting with 3
lights (small kitchen and now looks all cosy), and he's laid new flooring - grey slate effect but clip together type. So, painting of the walls to be done then our new blinds up and we'll be finished. We have a new (2nd hand) silver cooker which was a real bargain and a new ('real new!' fridge-freezer) so I'm really happy with the way it is all coming together.
Tea tonight will be fish in the oven and baked pots and veg as I have some (more) (re)writing!! to do.
Hope you are all keeping warm in this weather.
(((hugs))) to those who feel they'd like one today

Thank you all for your birthday wishes:D I did have a nice day but DS doesnt cope with birthdays so it all had to be very low key:cool:.

    Afternoon.

Brrrrrr wet, windy and just had more hailstones so temp is gonna drop tonight :( Just when I was getting used to double figure temps  It was 2 degrees at 9am this morning
Been to Mr S - spent a small fortune :o but some of that was some of their half price meat. Since I've got that I think I will leave our planned trip to Costco until another couple of months have gone by.

Been into nursery to help DS decorate a hard boiled egg. the second one I've had to cook since DS decided to see if the other one could bounce
He was suitably uninterested in joining me to decorate the egg and looking at what the morning nursery children have produced I think some of the parents are getting a wee bit competitive :rotfl: Ours is basically an egg with paper glued all over it whereas everyone else has tried to make an easter chick or humpty dumpty or an egg in a basket etc. Oh well it's was DS choice so I guess that's all that's important.

Tea tonight will be something easy so might opt for pasta in tomato sauce etc. I have a calorie book next to me so think I may have to start counting calories (heaven help me that is just torture) as weight is just not shifting (why I don't know as I don't sit down most of the day).

So really not a fat lot of OS going on TBH. Downside of working more hours I guess.

Diva - :rotfl: @ Mike Dyson. I don't name household appliances but I do name cars :o My first car was a bright yellow mark 1 Golf called Buttercup. then I had a mark 2 Golf called Bluebell. then a mondeo called Monty, a Land Rover Defender 90 called Herman and then a PT Cruiser called Chugaboom :rotfl: Not named my current car yet - it's a white mondeo so not very inspiring. All suggestions welcome :D

NPM - hope the holidays aren't too stressful for you and Noah, bless him. I do feel for you both, it's hard for you and equally hard for him when his routine gets changed xx

Floss - Happy Birthday  sounds like you're having a lovely day :D

Candygirl - Happy 1st Birthday to Boo. Hope she has a lovely day :D

MMM - be wary of taking too many pain killers. They can in fact prolong a headache which might be why you've had one for 3 days. Hope you feel better soon x

Bargainbird - hope the car passes MOT. Fingers crossed.

Kitchenbunny - well done on your 3 hours sleep. Hope it continues to increase.

    lowesy - +++++++ for your H today :D

sorry if I've missed anyone. Done this all at speed today :o
Hugs to those that need them. Have a good afternoon.

    Helloooooooooooo!

Was too late getting up this morning to post.:o

Hapy Birthday to Floss and Boo :j:j hope you ladies are having a lovely day.

Still snowing up here, we don't have much lying, but a few miles away they have six inches and more!!!! Up north, in Aberdeenshire, some of them have had no power since last night, poor souls they must have been flaming freezing. Some bright spark should invent central heating which has a battery back up or mini generator for powercuts, so many people had no heating last night. We were very busy today.

OS wise I made a lemon drizzle loaf last night for the team today, which had 3 eggs in, so that upped the aforementioned nutrition :p, tonight it's just DS1 and myself as the wee guy is at a friend then Beavers after school and OH has got some extra work from 4.30 til about ten in Edinburgh, which has worked out fantastically, as hid DSIS and our niece are arriving at Edinburgh airport tonight for two week's hols, so he can collect them on the way home! I am doing this :j as DSIL also happens to be one of my best friends in the world, (which is how we got together), and I haven't seen them since Christmas. Looking forward to a lovely Easter with them.

I got distracted there. OS is cleaning the kitchen, making soup, bread and peanut butter cookies. I plan on being busy busy and enjoying having the house to myself.

Have a good evening you lot, hugs to those of you who are worried or poorly.

Were is lone wolf? Haven't seen her for ages, Celyn, too? Saw Cranky40 posting elsewhere, so I know she's OK, but there are a few "missing" aren't there?

Afternoon all................ (((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))) if you need one.

Well what a morning......I decided to have a bit of a sleep in, I was woken by the phone bleeping and realised we had a power cut. Its has rained, sleeted or snowed since Sunday in this little bit of Scotland......

Some instinct last night made me fill two flasks, so we were able to get a hot drink and some lukewarm porridge. I lit the woodburner and put a pan of water on the top to heat. No central heating, no leccy.......

OH went over to the house, it appeared that a tree had come down on on the estate we live on and knocked out the power to us and the village of East Linton.

We had been meaning to get a small gas picnic ring and also a gas lamp. Postie told us that the A1 and also the road into Haddington was closed, but Dunbar was ok, so we hightailed it down to the ironmongers and got a gas ring and lamp.

The fire was doing a good job keeping the sitting room and the hall warm, a hot cup of coffee was very welcome, soup and bread for lunch and a further cuppa and hot cross bun around 2,30pm. We both fell asleep reading, just before 4pm I heard the sky box whirr and the power is back........thankfully.....and it has stopped raining.

The river Tyne is in spate and has burst its banks, I wonder if the bridge at the mill has gone again, its only just been replaced after the last lot of flooding and there is so much water around, any spuds that have been planted will rot in the ground.

The forecast is for the bad weather to return at the weekend......oh dear......

Chicken salad and jacket spuds for supper, we have some of the crumble left so thats dessert sorted.
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.

    Afternoon everyone

Didn't get chance to post yesterday. Today is miserable weather too, hopes it improves for the Easter Holidays.

My mum got out of hosp yesterday, they don't think it is anything to do with her heart and think it may be muscular so are going to send her for a scan soon hopefully.

I am feeling quite drained today and could just crawl into bed, but will have to wait till ds2 goes to sleep about 9.30pm.

Diva - Hope your DH is soon better.
Happy Birthday to Floss and Boo.
Essex-girl - hope your ds parent/teacher meeting went ok.
Lowesy - sending postivie vibes for your DH. Glad you got the matter sorted with your sd.
Bargainbird - hope your car passed it's MOT.
MMM - hope your headache clears soon.
NPM - Glad you had a nice birthday. I too hope the holidays aren't too stressful for you and your son. I recently read a book 'A friend called Henry' about an autistic boy who got a dog. It was really enlightening into dealing with an autistic child, and how the dog helped. I don't know if you have read this book.
Bitsy - suggestion for name for car is Snowwhite.

Enjoy the rest of your day.(( Hugs to anyone that needs/wants one. Take Care.

    Afternoon all

I typed a nice long post in work today and clicked on 'go advanced' to add a few smillies and then all of a sudden the whole internet connection went down  luckily it wasn't due to my, ahem, overuse of MSE in work time :o! There has been a flood in London which has affected thousands of BT connections, still wasn't working when I left today.

    So I'll try again!.....

Floss and Mrs MW -- happy birthday, hope you've had good days
Jc2703 - I love celery soup, it's my favourite and so easy to make. I fancy some for tea but I'm off out shortly.

We have had bonkers weather here too! In the 30 seconds it takes to leave work and walk to car I had sunshine, gales, rain and hail! Plus we have had the odd bit of sleet and snow! I hope it calms down tomorrow, as I'm out from early afternoon for the day/night in a little, floaty sundress (well little for someone my size! :rotfl:)!

I'm off out for an Indian tonight with some former colleagues who I've not seen since Oct, really looking forward to it :D I'm taking car so just soft drink for me.

Very little OS for me, DW went on overnight, and I brought some recycling home from work if that counts! :rotfl:

    Have a good evening all

    Hi everyone,

Jackie, one of our GPs is very dishy. I can only bring myself to see him if its about something above the neck or below the knees though - it doesn't seem right somehow having a good looking doctor looking at you.

NO OS whatsoever today. I came home from work full of good intentions and ended up having a 40 minute skype with dd in Cambodia. Interestingly the connection there is much better than either Australia or NZ.

I'm discovering that they must have removed my brain along with the lump. I can't remember anything I did at work in the weeks before my op. Thankfully every time I've thought I haven't done something I have, I must have done it on automatic pilot.

    Happy birthday everyone celebratingg
