My hair isn't as long as yours OP (shoulder length) and after months of searching I've found that Boots Botanics Baby Shampoo works for me. :)

Long dyed hair, very shiny I alternate between loreal red shampoo and white conditioner ( cant remember the names but both different) and believe it or not Tesco basics stuff which is about 30p for the shampoo and 50p for the conditioner. One of the girls I work with used to be a hairdresser and is always commenting on how shiny my hair is, and usually it's when I'm on the cheap stuff!

I had long thick hair until i chopped it all off (and haven't looked back).

I had problems with every single shampoo i used, especially brands like Toni and Guy and Pantene. I first thought that I wasn't washing it out properly but I used to be in the shower for ages. It got so bad that it didn't look like i'd washed my hair, the only thing that would cut through the oil slick was washing up liquid!eek.

I used Original Source tea tea shampoo and a Tigi conditioner and haven't looked back. My hairdresser said it was the build up of silica that they stick in shampoo to make your hair feel smooth. I also use a salt based shampoo from Lush when I can afford it which is good for shine, it's £11 a pot but lasts for ages.

This is true actually. When I was a skint student I started buying Superdrug own brand shampoo (can't remember what the fragrance was but it was pink, maybe raspberry or something?). I thought it was fab, it cost 59p for a large bottle, and the next time I went to the hairdresser she said my hair had never been in better condition!! They discontinued it eventually, I was gutted. blush.gif

Just an update in case it helps anyone else:

Tried some of the brands listed in the thread and also tried Charles Worthington as it was on offer in Tesco.

Second best was the amber coloured Elvive.

My fave has been the Lucious Long Aussie range. Hair is back to being shiney and sleek looking now and I love it.

Just been away on holiday and normally my hair ends up a dry and frizzy mess due to a combination of the sunshine, pool/sea water and possibly the high mineral content tap water (got very soft water at home). It's also washed and blow dried daily comapared to washed every 2-3 days at home and left to dry naturally.

Took the Aussie with me along with a travel sized Aussie 3 Minute Miracle that I used a couple of times, and my hair survived and looked nice right through the holiday

Really pleased with Aussie, so thanks to those who suggested it :)
Here I go again on my own....
