Does your dog chew up your mail?

No. But, does chew everything else!!!!0

My previous dog was a nightmare for mail. We ended up putting a cage on the door, unfortunately for us if we went out we would forget it was there. Open the door and bang into the wall of our toilet. We now need to get it replastered when I can afford it.
Since getting our puppy who also likes the mail, we have fitted a stair gate in the little recess between front door and hallway. This seems to be working so far thankfully.0 -
I'm not going to be much help to you, I'm afraid. I've got an 11 year old who LOVES shredding up empty jiffy bags & envelopes. He makes such a fuss if he doesn't get his jiffy bang. Thankfully, he doesn't normally get to the post first. We use to have a wire cage fixed on the wooden front door and it worked fine but tended to hit the wall(very narrow hall). Shame he doesn't chew the bills up for me.0

My old dog only ever did it once in all the ten years I had her.... I came home to find the shredded remains of what turned out to be a birthday card and a £20 note!!!
Of all the things to shred, she had to pick that... lots of sellotape later, the bank agreed to swap it, luckily!0 -

I have never seen a dog kill the mail quite as enthusiastically as my dads JRT - he raggs it like a maniac...he clearly thinks its a rat in need of a good killing... it's very hard to stop him, as the postman comes at different times of day, and the dog is very determined and very, very fast... !!!0

Your stories are all very funny. I think it's amusing when dogs rip mail apart, although obviously not as funny when your own dog does it. My poochie used to attack the mail (when he was very young) One day after visiting the doctors I saw our postwoman coming up the street and I just had a gut feeling that I should get home pretty sharpish. I got into the house and discovered poochie had destroyed the only envelope that had come through the door.... my passport!! All the bumpf that came with it was in shreds, the envelope was in tatters but somehow my passport had opened on the page with my photo on it and poochie had steered well clear. I don't know if this scared him because he hasn't touched a piece of mail since. He still goes nuts if he hears the post arrive but thankfully, he's done it less and less since we moved into this house that has a porch! He still goes nuts if he sees the uniform too but that's mostly because our posties love giving him cuddles and he just wants the attention. Bless him!!Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)0
