MY OH walks on one side of the stairs on the way up and on the other side on the way down. He says if you go up and down in the centre the carpet wears out quicker.1

Are there any OS quirky things that you are convinced only you do?
When going up & down the stairs I alternate where I place my feet on the staircarpet to even out the wear....middle of the stairs going up and outsides coming down.......:oLearn the rules so you know how to break them properly!1 -

I do the same for cleaning the bathroom floor as I don't like to use the mop for the bathroom AND the kitchen. (The bathroom is tiny so it doesn't take long to do it with the sponge.)
I hope you cut them in half first - I do!I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

I save wine bottle corks, tie them together in bundles of four (with salvaged string) and slip them under the boards in my attic (betwen the rafters) for extra insulation. I will even ask for corks in pubs etc if I see some going in the bin. Maybe it makes no difference at all, but it makes me feel better thinking that they're not going into landfill.£2 coin club - £282! (since 9 Feb 06)1

Better than sauce sachets, my sister treated me to a cup of tea and a bun in a posh department store when we were out shopping (well she was shopping, I was there to keep her company) and much to her embarrasement I came home with a whole handbag full of those mini glass jars of jam and 10g flora tubs!!! I was subtle, well subtle ish and didn't stand there shovelling them in my bag or anything and no one noticed. Sis said it was a bad as stealing but as we bought stuff in there its not.......is it? :undecided
Anyhoo they lasted ages and hubbie felt spoilt on his birthday when I took him breakfast in bed and he had proper hotel style individual pots of jam and butter.
OK farrrrrr too excited about free pots of jam!!(when the men with white coats come for me I'll go quietly I promise)!

my mother in law cuts the toothpaste tube open when finished to get the 'last bit' out...... (she also does the soap scrap thing where you melt all the bits and make a 'new' bar!)
My mum cuts up cereal packets into cardboard strips to use as shopping lists (apparently they dont get lost like paper does, coz its thicker). I do it too now, but use the strips for homework, when the kids get spellings to learn etc!Experience is the toughest teacher because she gives the test first then the lesson
