My point was actually...
The main context of the posts in this topic is to say that ALL (yes.. ALL) JC staff are this, that & the other - all derogatory.
However, you will find that A LOT of posters on these forums ARE actually JC staff - those very same incompetant imbeciles, who are happy to answer questions and help with enquires -questions & enquires mainly from the likes of those posting on this topic!!!
So... too useless to do their job but useful enough when you want something on here!!!
:think:Oops!! Should I have posted this??? Some users don't think I shouldn't be offering advice due to my occupation!!!0 -
Hi there, I have just returned from the Job Centre having signed on. I have been advised that my JSA will be sanctioned as I am only applying for temporary jobs and nothing permenant.oldmotherreilly wrote: »CBR, the JCP person cannot put a sanction on your claim-they can refer it to a DM for them to have a look at the question to see if it is reasonable for you to look for temporary employment whilst waiting for the references to come through. JSA will continue to be paid until the time that the Decision Maker makes a decision
I'd suggest it sounds more like an entitlement question (ie not a sanction question) and so payment would be suspended until a decision made.0 -
Yes, sorry, you could be right. I agree if the claim is referred under an availability question but if referred under Refusal of Employment then the claim would not be suspended. If the claim is to be referred under an availability question, they would have had to get the customer to put the fact that they were only looking for temporary work in writing and would have had to take disputed JSAg action as well (only an advisor can do this)? It sounded to me like they were going to try to take Refusal of Employment action, hence the advise I gave. If CBR could give more information, then we could judge which action the JCP staff were going to take? Either way, it is not the staff in the Jobcentre who can decide whether a claim should be sanctioned/disallowed, it has to be a decision maker. However, in the case of an availability question, benefis is suspended until the Decision Maker makes their decision.0

I am absolutely in agreement with you, really I am. And please dont think I'm a pedant. I just want to be clear for the OP.
If they refer a sanction question (RE), any self respecting DM will return it (allow) and request an entitlement question (avail)0 -

I can only comment on the staff I have come across in the job centre which is what was being discussed and as i stated in my earlier post there is only one of them (I did not state ALL) that is of any use whatsoever. None of us commented on staff across the UK, only those that we have had dealings with. I cannot comment on those staff members posting on here and as I stated I would commend anyone that takes time to do so. No comment was made on those staff posting on here to help others therefore please do not take the posts made on here out of the context.:smileyhea0 -
I agree with Sunshine12. I'm not insulting ALL JCP staff across the UK. Unfortunately I've just had a lot of bad experiences both in the centres (2 different ones and have had feedback from a friend who signs on at a 3rd different one) and over the phone and have hit up against problems which are not my fault but I still have to fix them. Several months ago I had to fight to get answers to one simple question ("Why can I not claim whilst my (now ex - thanks benefits system) boyfriend works even though he can't support the two of us?") and I gave up all hope of speaking to someone who would understand what I was going through and what sort of help I needed.
If any JCP staff on these boards wanted to come into this thread and answer some of the questions we are mostly guessing at or cobbling together answers between a few of us, I'm sure we would all be more than grateful to get some help.0 -

you only work 6.5 hours a day though. most people work a minimum of 8 hours and are often expected to work overtime. if this was you would you still be happy about it? to be able to afford £170 per month i guess your wage must be pretty good.0 -
Went for an interview on Friday and got a phone call yesterday to say I've got the job, start on Monday 26 April :j
When I sign-on this Wednesday, I'm looking forward to telling JCP that I will REALLY miss the place :rotfl:0 -
