I could be totally wrong though!

p.s Ive never had any kind of service from the job centre - apart, of course, from the fortnightly 30 second farce otherwise known as signing on day!! ;)
Haha! Don't get me started ;) I'm currently arguing it out with them that they made a mistake when processing my change of circumstances form. But of course it was my fault... yawn. More form filling in to fix the problem.

Ah, that sounds nearer the mark. I haven't been "referred" yet but don't suppose they can do that until they remove my restriction. If a job does come up close to my previous salary, I don't need any prompting from JCP to apply for it :rotfl:

Me neither thankfully. My 6 months is up in 2 weeks and am sure they are going to try and get me to apply for jobs that I was doing 20 years ago. Not a chance!!

Im with you there - if there were any jobs with my previous salary Id be knocking their door down!

What does "being referred" for a job mean, is that the same as JCP printing it off?

    Thanks

if they bring up a job and then print it out for you then you are likely to have been refered for it. this means they have registered on their system that you are applying for it. if they say things like they are only printing it out for you so you can take time to think about it then they are unlikely to have refered you and therefore wont register it on the system. if you are ever unsure just ask them the question am i being refered for this job.

Me too. They have halved my benefits for the last 6 weeks "by mistake" and changed my signing on time 3 times in one week. I was on the phone for around 3 hours in total trying to sort it out.

I went to sign on last week and had to ask the lady that saw me a few questions about changing over to income based etc. She had the personality of a wet brick and knowledge to go with it. Utterly useless.

Sorry, Im ranting. It happens sometimes when frustration sets in!! :rotfl:

  • I don't have a signing time (maybe one day I will be afforded the privilige :D) so have to turn up between 10-11 and sign on at reception. Last week they couldn't even find my details with the signing on sheet so had to start a new one. Oh the joys of going to JCP!

Thanks for this, I will definitely bear it in mind. :o

Hah! That made me laugh :rotfl: . Not that the situation is funny, just your description ;)

Really? I don't know. I've been printed off jobs in the past and not applied for them and never been chased up for it. Maybe I've just never been referred... *shrugs* ah well. Thanks for the explanation :)

The whole Job Seekers process seems to me to be a complete shambles and I have read all the posts with interest.

In my case I still have to been seen actively seeking work and applying for positions and yet I have been offered a position, accepted it and going through a vetting process.

Therefore I only require a temporary position and yet my advisor insists that I apply for both permanent and temporary. One position I was sent for required an enhanced disclosure paid for by the employer of course and yet I am in the middle of my new employers vetting process.

The Advisors must in my eyes trained via text book and are unable to deviate away from it, not taking into account anyones personal circumstances. Its like banging your head against a brick wall.

    Roll on tommorrow, signing day.

you need to make sure you apply for jobs you are refered for as they often check up to see if you did apply and can sanction you if you didnt.
  • I'm gonna start asking if I'm being referred when they print me off jobs from now on. I honestly never knew such a system existed. No-one (in the JCP) has ever mentioned it to me.
