    Hi,

Anyone having trouble with 17 year old girls?

    Thanks

I can honestly say no. My 17 year olds were close to perfect. :A

However, from 13 until 17 life was hell. Eldest was awful - her boyfriend was under a court order for "anger management issues", she was sneaking out during the night, drinking, . I thought things couldn't get worse until DD2 hit 13 - jeez - police brought her home from the local park for drinking, called at work when she was caught shoplifting at M&S ( a £2.49 salad!), skipping school, ran away several times - I could go on and on and on. I once called the police office after a break in and the desk sergeant said "Is that X's mum?"

I can laugh now because it's over. DD1 is very sensible, studying to become an occupational therapist after spending her university summer terms working on a camp for autistic young adults. She's lovely - great company, manages her money much better than I do mine, gets great references for jobs. DD2 is just about to start university. Teachers, neighbours etc comment on how mature and pleasant she is.

I remember posting on these boards that I could not cope with a teenager any more- can't remember which one. Someone assured me it was a phase I would survive and I thought "oh yeah!". They were right. Although I always loved my daughters, there have been times when I really didn't like them. I really like and appreciate them now.

To be honest - and I know this won't make things any easier for you - your daughter doesn't sound too bad. For what it's worth, my sister was crazy, expelled from school, not a single qualification, criminal record, the lot. She met an older man and from then on really calmed down and focussed on making a career. She became a very successful chef and now runs a string of restaurants in North America. I was the class swot; great Uni degree, quiet, never in trouble, and my marriage lasted 4 years, single for 17, and only just getting out of debt as I reach a half century. Oh - and my nephews are perfect....

It is a phase, you'll get through it. Sending many hugs as a help, though!

    Hi,

Created a new user name as i want to keep this seperate from the boards i usually hang around in.

    In a nutshell,

Our 17 year old daughter is going off the rails.

She has been a bit 'wild' for the last 18 months or so.

She has stolen money from us, gone missing, totally screwed up her GCSE's last year and started smoking.

We cant think of anything in the last year or so thats happened so we are at a loss.

She works hard at a hairdressers a couple of times a week and goes to college the other days.

Currently she has been hanging around with a 30 year olod man who has his own flat. you cannot believe how worried we are about this.

She is grounded at the mo but i know its only a short term thing.

Anyone having trouble with 17 year old girls?

no but i was one and most have troubles. Not uncommon to smoke and go out with older men at that age. I shouldnt worry too much. You will drive yourself mad. Whats meant to be will be and people go through phases. Try and enjoy life.
