Way too late for this, LOL, but wanted to clear up a common misconception that Debenahms would have your money right away if you pay by card online as no-one seems to know how it works.
To accept payments online you have to have a Merchant Account, their Merchant Bank has your money which is different to Debs Business account. You pay the Bank, the bank pays Debs. Not even a company the size of Debs would get that money right away.
Your card issuer gives permission for the money to be spent, whch then goes to their Merchant Bank (this usually takes 24-72 hours) and then the Merchant Bank pays it into Debenhams bank account a few days (but anything up to a month) later.
However, whenever you pay for anything online you could just be making a 'deferred payment'. This means the money is 'reserved' and your available funds would decrease (proving that you can actually afford to pay for it), and they 'take' your money by 'completing' your order which then goes through the same process as above.
I'd guess it takes them a week to get 'your money' but the reason it does not come back to you right away when you do a refund is because the Merchant Bank (nothing to do with Debs Business Account) is making interest on it before releasing the funds back to your card.
That being said, you are all lucky that Debs did not try and take the full £2k plus, they are the worst online shop I have ever used and regularly overcharge and it's a fight toget a refund.0 -
Actually I did donate £1400 to MacMillan trust this afternoon. (I have two brothers suffering with cancer as it happens)
As for the hallway- I live in a loft apartment in central London - we generally don't have hallways as it goes.
So - yes.. my apartment but not my bbq. well done detective!0 -

Have you never heard of "pre-auth" ? I'd have thought you lot would know the ins & outs of this by now!!! :picard:0 -
Biggest laugh I have had for ages at the photo-shopping. A few hours too late for April Fools day though wasn't it??
The posh schools kick you lot out quicker than the local comps. Are Mummy & Daddy skiing this week and have left you in alone??
Do you feel kind of sad and lonely?0 -
Are Mummy & Daddy skiing this week
Great joke - my mother has Osteoporosis and also had two vertebral fusion surgery last year - can hardly move from her arm-chair as it happens.
My dad is fit as anything though, but has never been skiing in his life.
I tend to go to my place in Meribel each winter, but came home early despite great the great snow we had this season.. (I usually come back to Uk in March, but cut it short for a wedding  )0
