GLITCH Avalon five burner BBQ kitchen HEAVILY REDUCED

In the end I decided to phone Debenhams.....My order HAS been cancelled, as expected. They just hadn't bothered to email/call/write to tell me. The FANTASTIC customer service doesn't end there though. When I asked about my refund the clueless man on the phone had to go and ask his supervisor. He then returned and said the money is in a holding account, as expected, and that he doesn't actually know what happens next. Then he said it's between me and my bank now, so I should call them and see what I have to do about it. He kept saying 'you should have received an email' and I kept saying 'I should have received an email'. Even when I said 'I should have received notification' his answer to this was 'you should have received an email when it was cancelled'. I said I wanted to complain about the fact I hadn't and basically he was dumbfounded as to what my problem was. It didn't seem to occur to him that saying 'we should have sent you an email. It's not my department that sends them' doesn't answer my questioning of WHY I hadn't been told and wanted to speak to someone who could answer my question.
Don't think I'll be buying from Debenhams again. I can't exactly say I trust them after this little episode. They didn't even seem to know what they were talking about. I fully expected the item to be cancelled. I didn't think I'd be the one person to actually get a BBQ, but I did expect to be told. Like I told him 'as far as I'm concerned an order isn't properly cancelled until I've been told it's cancelled'. Not impressed.0 -

Not sure why you want the MSE name with it, but I'm happy to do so.. ~confused~
To stop any confusion, I work for the BBQ company and no Avalons have been sent out on behalf of Debenhams, all BBQs are sent directly from our warehouse, the bbq is 172kg comes in one box and is already assembled. All orders have been cancelled and the customers have been contacted.0 -

she referred to the company "landmann" as "the bbq company" and implied that debenhams raised hundreds or erroneous orders on their supplier then cancelled them all... i severely doubt that happened. she doesnt even know the name of her employer?:rotfl:
i suspect you have been trolled :money:
also avalon is the name of the range of bbqs not the model. the model is a 5-burner bbq kitchen :money:steal dime bars by wearing a baggy jumper and flicking them off the shelf and up your sleeve, POW - FREE CANDY :j:cool::T:D:money:0 -

Yeah... Ok "annaloosie" - you seem entirely credible, having just registered and made your very first post that! Do you even know which part of the midlands "your" company distributes these from? If ever there was a wind-up / troll then you are it! I'm only here just to offer my hope to others who get this kind of crap all the time about "we don't honour this" and "we don't honour that". I'm slightly annoyed with you for suggesting us humble folk can't make a simple saving here and there. Anyways.. I actually do have mine. I actually don't care if you got yours or what, but I'm here to try and support / help fellow MSE people thanks.
If anyone's being a horrid person here it's you. I suggest you don't invent some "character" who "works for" the BBQ company who's name you don't even know.. .please go away and let me inform others of how to beat the system thanks!
(it's up to them if they don't feel happy about using charity as an excuse to get cheap goods not you.)(go away you troll / windup)
and there ends my rant. sorry everyone else. apologies.0 -

It's ok folks.. I've just figured out - this is all part of the elaborate marketing ploy by them!
(ok - I admit that I did genuine pay the full price for mine.. only after I posted here when I thought I'd got it for it's cheap price!) I honestly don't mind though... I'm happy to give this amazing BBQ to charity anyway.0 -

No it wasnt a marketing plot it was down to human error, and I think the I.t person from Debenhams has had a telling off :-) they had over 1800 orders in 24 hours, I only came on this website to see comments people had made about it and try and help people who had ordered one and not been advised if they were going to receive it. I hope you enjoy the kitchen, it is the BBQ of all BBQ's, and if you have any queries regarding it then give me a call and id be happy to help :-)0
