Why shouldn't I vote lib dem?

I think it is reasonable to ask what the Tories may have done in the crisis due to the fact that an election is almost upon us and they have been attempting to make political capital out of the situation, especially when we have evidence of their mindset at the time.
A vast range of regulations on the financial services industry should either be abolished or watered down, including money-laundering restrictions affecting banks and building societies. Mr Redwood's group also sees "no need to continue" to regulate mortgage provision, saying it is the lender, not the client, who takes the risk.
Start a thread about it then....
Back to L Dems...0 -
I will be voting for anyone other than Brown. Whilst I am not massively into politics I feel he has steered the country into recession, as for every boom period there must be a recession to equal out financial distribution.
so surely the most responsible thing for the prime minister, the active leader of our country would have been to put some money to one side for a looming recession to help out those affected? Nope not our prime minister - he simply spent spent spent at a surprising rate to continue the boom.
What goes up -- must come down!
This is very relevent for Planes, Birds, Rocks thrown in the air, A country's financial state!
Brown In my opinion gave the country no option but to smash into rock bottom like it did. I will vote for the strongest of the competitiors to ensure I do my bit for my country, and flush anything brown to the gutter£4142.49/ £131,795.91 - 3.14% paid off or only £129,608.80 to go!
Debt free by Xmas 2015: #182 £1955.38/£4435.51 (44.08%)
MFW: Opening Balance: £108,297.91 Original MF Date: June 2042
Current Balance: £106600.27 Estimated MF Date: Dec 2033

They are both odds on on Betfair at the mo, 1.8 LibDem and 1.91 Labour, with a 5% deduction that is not a very enticing market.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. Except that's not true. They've made it clear that there is no way that they can fund a scrap of tuition fees with the current defecit. It's still something that they want to do, but not something that can be done immediately. They're also still the most pro European, and the most aggressive on re-distributing the tax system.
All I can see is a load of people moaning that we only have two choices - but then these same people bemoan anyone who would possibly 'waste' a vote on anyone other than the main two.
I take your points, I just think it all seems a bit fuzzy.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8264643.stm Doesn't sound much like he wants to commit too far either way.
As for Europe, they may be the most pro-Europe, and correct me if I'm incorrect, but I seem to remember them saying that should they win the election we would join the Euro no question. What happened to that?
As far as I can tell Clegg is a Tory in a yellow tie who's ruffling feathers with the left of the party, should be interesting to see how they do in the polls.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -

I doubt people Labour supporters thought they were voting for University fees. Ask a room full of Tories about Europe and watch as the fight kicks off.
If you want to infer that I think they're as bad as the others from my post then that's absolutely fine by me.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -
Like the OP I'm looking for reasons not to vote for the Lib Dems.
For the first time in my life I find myself not knowing who to vote for.
Being the capitalist pig that I am I've always voted Conservative but I really don't see them as a genuine alternative to the current incumbents.
What struck me this morning when driving to work and listening to Radio 4 was, do these politicians go to a university that teaches then how not to answer questions using as many words as possible?
They all sound the same - I don't mean policy, I mean they all avoid answering questions in a straight manner.
I guess that's what I like about Vince Cable.....He calls a spade, a spade, I get the feeling any of the others would describe it as an earth repositioning device or something similar....you get the idea.
The thing is, I only really like Vince Cable and I can't vote for an entire party on the grounds I like one straight talking chap.
My local MP is Peter Ainsworth and a decent chap he is and has always responded favourably all the times I've had cause to write to him (far too many!) So he's my default vote - but I'm not overly happy about it.0 -

you clearly have a slightly different definition of 'decent' to me.

this is more what i call decent and who i'll be voting for.

David Lammy seems worth moving to Tottenham for.
On a separate point, can I say how disappointed I was by you MSE'ers. I know what a canny lot you are, and I suggested we form a party to contest the election. I suggested PN as shadow chanellor, as she seems pretty careful with money - just what we need. And I asked for nominations for home secretary, preferably someone not to keen on locking people up, as that is just soooo Dickensian, not to say expensive.
I have received not one reply! I feel so stabbed in the back, and we haven't even started yet.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

where did you ask this? I'll be home secretary if you like...........its not the most glam role though is it?:(0 -
It's a very responsible role, and I'm sure that you'll be excellent for the job. Thank you.
Who knows a couple of foreign languages and wants to be foreign secretary? Come to think of it, languages aren't essential as you can just speak loudly and the for'ners will understand. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
