No, it was called sweeping up the mess after going to the IMF etc, and the reasons we had to go to the IMF.

Anyway, I know you dislike tories, but with respect, this isn't a thread about the tories. It's about lib dems.

It's because of history; prior to the first world war, the Liberals were the leading party, with labour nowhere. The liberals were responsible for World War I, and reaped the result... liberal politics became so deeply discredited that it has taken two generations for people to forget how badly they messed up.

Even though that's no longer a deciding factor, our voting system means it would take a pretty revolutionary result for them to gain power... it is unlikely to happen.

Ahh, didn't know that, thanks :)

A vote for tories or labour is a vote for more of the same.
They will happily pinch each others policies. They offer the middle ground.

A vote for Lib Dem at least means a serious look at changing the system.

These are great jobs we are offering to elect them into. We deserve better than the dross we have been served up so far.

Vote Lib Dem, get five more years of Brown.

They will never deal with the Tories.

  • I've got massive respect for the Lib Dems and, all things being equal, I'd strongly consider them for my vote - I've voted for them at local and European elections in the past.

The problem for me is that my constituency (Leeds West) is a hugely safe Labour seat (IIRC, the second safest behind Wigan). The second party, unfortunately, is the BNP. That means that any vote that isn't red leaves the door ever so slightly more ajar for Griffin and his crew.

I'm no fan of the main two but they've got a long way to go to be as detestable as the BNP.

Why do you think we had to call in the IMF? could it because of the mess Labour inherited from the Tories in the election not long before. BTW I was responding to your point icon7.gif

The idea that one party has all the best people is frankly ludicrous.

I want a system where I can see the best of the lib dem people working alongside the best of the others.

How listening to the main 2 parties bickering at each other during QT solves our problems is beyond me.

have to agree with that. Watching our MPs 'debate' is a national sham. It's just like watching two opposing sets of football team fans. There's no drive to improve the country - or people would actually listen to new ideas. No one knows everything, and we should all be able to progress our ideas through debating/discussion. Instead all we get is punch and judy politics.

I'll be voting Lib Dem - they wont get in where I live, but they're the only party that have really pushed for anything different. They support a few issues that are really important to me personally, and they have been strong on the economy when the others were wrong. Three choices would be better than the two we currently have...
