folding sliding doors advice

  • A friend of mine has just had some Magnet tri-fold doors fitted from her kitchen into her summer room. They are Oak veneer and do look very good. Price before trade discount was about £1,200.00 (plus fitting). I am having some bi-fold doors fitted from my dining room to my new conservatory, these are 1500mm wide and are in brown coloured aluminium and are costing £2,200.00 fitted.
  • Purchased our solid oak 7ft x 7ft unfinished soild oak from VUFOLD @ £1399 delivered. Done alot of research into door gear etc and was told they used Centor which had a good reputation. Had them professionally installed by the company called Energycare.com who fitted our windows. They are a really solid door and glide beautifully. The only downside is that you have to finish them with three coats fo sadolin prior to installation but at that money we didn't mind that. We would definately recommend this company.

Not solid oak , they are Oak vaneered with a "Hardwood "core, which is more stable than a softwood core but IMO won't last much past their warranty .

The problem with a Vaneered overlay door on external doors is the variation in tempratures and humidity that we get.Between the vaneer and the "Hardwood" core is a fabric netting which helps to stop the timber vaneer from splitting , but you need to remember the Oak vaneer is very thin and thats not good on an external door.

For good quality solid Oak external doors you should look to pay double .

The 10 year Guarantee covers the original owner only with proof of purchase a condition and the glass is only Guaranteed for 5 years ..The doors also need treating every year.....;)

Why have you been sucked into it? Its just a spammer.
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.
  • Anyone had more recent experience of these, good deals etc?

    Thanks
