  • I've been looking at getting a set of folding sliding doors for my new house. After a lot of looking and going to exhibitions I have found that VuFold are doing folding doors from £1399 and with free delivery. They're pre-finished too so best weather protection out of the box.

How long have you worked for them? Do you have any jobs?
  • Hi All,

I have had my doors delivered this week by foldingslidingdoors .com and they are exactly as expected.

3 Panel, white aluminium, flush track, full fitting instructions and only £1395.

I fitted them today with a builder friend of mine and it is all working prefectly. I have friends who have paid almost £3k for the same thing so am very very happy.

I would defo recommend them if you are looking for bifold doors.

Thanks to everyone for their help.

What are they like from a security point of view?

  • Well no-one has broken in yet! :)

I am not an expert on this, but they have the usual multi point locking on them and are internally beaded, so i cant see them being any less secure that a normal patio or french door.

I do have an alarm on my house as well though which has a sensor on these doors. so thats gives me more confidence.

    Thanks
    Jason

  • its a non contest for me! bifold doors are the best thing about my new ground floor extension and really help to bring the outdoors, indoors and are easy to operate.

Been looking at bi-fold doors ourselves for an orangery we are having built. I was all for them until I saw some in the showroom and realised that when fully opened they stuck out from the front elevation at 90 deg, right into the patio area. The alternative was to have them folding inwards which then means you need to keep an area clear of furniture inside. Not sure if all such bi-fold doors work in the same way.
In the end we have opted for traditional fully glazed french windows with 180 deg hinges, allowing them to be fully opened back against the front elevation. The glazing either side of the french windows will be full height as well, so that when the french windows are fully opened, you still get a good view out into the garden.

Get your builders to get you a price from magnet. I priced up a job yesterday and the bloke was saying magnet can supply a similar size set of bi folds for about 1k. Didnt go into detail but i think they will be timber. Also if your worried about come-backs at least magnet have a shop where you can deal with someone.

fitted mine last year bought from uk bifold manchester way. very good quality, i had already had the opening made when i found out they had 2 or 3 that were wrong size for several jobs at half price think the 3.5 was 1500 . i went for a bottom slider which has a higher threshold. also with no handle on the outside, so you cant tell which one should open, great security.
