folding sliding doors advice

Hi All,

Has anyone had any of these fitted recently?
I am looking at buyig some for my extension that is being built but the prices for aluminium ones vary hugely.

A compay called foldingslidingdoors.com will do them at an incredible £1400 delivered, but everywhere else i ring tell me more like £2600..

So I dont know what to think...are these cheap for a reason?
I am getting the builders to fit them and they will make the opening to fit the doors (its about 2.4m wide / 1.2m high) and everything on the website looks good, so i cant see why they are so cheap!

there must be a catch and i am wondering if anyone else has used them or know of other cheaper suppliers for these doors.

Many Thanks
Jason

I had one put in as part of a double large glazing/conservatory deal. Aluminium 3 panel 1800mm width. Fitted it cost £2800 which from quotes I got was neither especially good or bad. It was quite an effort to fit as it goes through from my lounge to new conservatory I got them to use the lowest profile track possible and sink it down to virtually carpet level so the floor carries through nicely into the the conservatory, they had to make a metal plate just the right thickness to lay it on. I would say its very high quality, the soundproofing is amazing and it moves with ease.
  • sorry i meant 2.2m for the height.

so has anyone boght from the foldingslidingdooorcompany?

    thanks

Friends have used them and have had them in for a couple of years now. They are absolutely huge - probably 8-10m long!

I think they've had a couple of small niggles, nothing serious, but I don't see how you wouldn't with something that massive as they are incredibly heavy so considering, I'd say they were very good without spending a fortune. If yours are only 2.4m wide then I wouldn't expect to have any issues with weight etc.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
  • Thanks DoozerGirl, thats encouraging to know.
I think i will give them a go and see what turns up! :)

I havent actually seen any of these bifolds in the flesh...i should have gone to the ideal home show this year as i bet there were some there to look at!

    Thanks again.

We deal with a fair few fold/slide companies with work (alum glazing). If you want I can send out a few enquiries if you pm specs sizes no. of leafs (assume 2?) etc and i'll see what prices I get back next week if you can wait?

    I'm also interested.
  • Hi Munkie,

The sizes are about 2400w x 2150h, but its a new extension so i can make this opening to suit anything around this size (give or take 100mm)...

I am looking for a 3 door, outward folding door from left to right (from inside the house) with the left door being an access door with an external handle.

    Thats about it.
These are the ones i was interested in on ebay:
I cant post links, but search for item number 170453358664

Please let me know what you find out :)

    Much appreciated
