Nice to see a few jobs on GFK/TNS that I havent done for ages....... got a busy Sunday booked this week which is quite rare!

Quite disappointed to hear that there have been a lot of people not turning up to the Tern contact lens/glasses assessments..... the examiner I spoke to today said he had been to that branch 3 times now trying to examine the trainee, the first 2 just didnt bother to show up.

That is really bad about the Tern contact lens and not turning up, I have done a few of them and I would never dream of just not going along.

Makes you wonder how they can deem a business 21 miles away as their local competition! Have to say the furthest between any that I have done has been about a mile

I had one offered which was a motorway service area. Didn't know the competitor when accepting the visit. The competitor was the next services down the road. This would have meant a 55 mile round trip and on the road to nowhere! Do the maths, there's no profit in that one.

Tern have really showed their true colours these past few weeks.

Helpful team, very approachable and they have very generous petrol allowances if you ask them to cover the fuel. They paid me a fuel allowance to travel 36 miles to the venue and then the 36 miles back and I still have 1/4 left lol, so their allowances are ample. Talking of allowances, did anyone see the prices they were willing to pay to cover the 3 last minute ones last month? 2 in the midlands and the Irish one, the Irish one they were paying for the return flights and travel costs and everything! Madness

I wouldn't dream of not turning up either. I dont mind being paid the good fee to have my eyes looked at for 45 minutes. A great earner, seeing as I am covering all of Kent at the moment (minus the odd one or two) - they keep phoning me up to cover last minute ones because someone has cancelled or not shown up.

When you say Irish do you mean Irish or was it Northern Ireland? I know it doesn't make a lot of difference over there...my Mum still says I live in Ireland :D

I like Tern too, but I'm not sure it's a good idea to broadcast what they're happy to pay in extra - if anything it compromises your own position when it comes to negotiation in future (if someone else local sees this and then undercuts you). Equally, *if* they read it then maybe they won't offer so much next time or will scrutinise the distances a little more closely.

I believe Northern.... I was even considering it. They were paying for the petrol + the flights and would have even paid for an overnight hotel stay in a cheapie B&B if it was needed..... shows how desperate they are to please the client, but it also shows how much Tern must be getting if they can up their fees to that level.

Ooooo managed to get an exit interview audit from Retail Maxim.... never done one before. I like the way they state that during the 4 hour period, they are expecting between 40-60 completed surveys. However, on a Thursday lunchtime are they expecting that much business? And what if everyone says they aren't interested?! Its the electrical retailer by the way, beginning with 'M'
