THIS DEAL IS OVER THERE IS NO MORE FREE AIRTIME FOR THE FULL LENGTH OF THE CONTRACT.
There are other deals like this: Used to be 12 months now 11months line rental back) http://www.onestopphoneshop.co.uk/ourdeals.php?PROV=OR&OFF=K500&TAR=OVPR200 and shop around other deals like this are on http://www.fwdcellular.com/ look under rent free... and watch out for the longer 18month contracts on Vodafone.

SOME POINTS TO REMEMBER IF YOU WENT WITH THE DEAL

1) Organise the cash back well in advance you only have a 45 Windows per claim. Do it now while you have the paper work and write dates on a calender: Dates for Cash back and dates for Orange to move tariff.

2) Call Orange and cancel the ORANGE WORLD otherwise you will get stung a fiver per handset, you have to give them all the handset numbers. You still get the free 3meg for a month even if you cancel.

3) DO NOT MERGE accounts if you have existing accounts with Orange, until you have got all the cash backs!

4) READ the docs you got with the phone and the Terms

5) Double check your calendar and chase for any missing paperwork now

6) DO NOT CHANGE account names or numbers with orange they must match info on invoice!

7) MONTHS ARE MONTHS CONNECTED NOT MONTHS OF INVOICES FROM PHONE COMPANY! READ THIS AGAIN IT IS IMPORTANT! MONTHS ARE MONTH CONNECTED NOT INVOICES FROM PHONE COMPANY

8)YOU ONLY HAVE A 45 day Windows so READ POINT 7 AGAIN!!

WHAT TO DO, HOW WHYAND WHEN (TIME CRITICAL)

This is my outline plan and calendar READ POINTS 7) and 8) about definition of a month:MONTHS ARE MONTHS CONNECTED NOT MONTHS OF INVOICES FROM PHONE COMPANY,

1) Get phones
2) Day one of connection:
-Cancel Orange world on all handsets,
-Check itemised billing is not chargeable on your tariff.
-Call Orange and cancel the ORANGE WORLD, you still get the 3m free
3) Organise paper work required for each cash back
4) Make a diary / plan and write in your calendar so you stick to it!

In my case I need to claim and do lots of things to ensure maximum benfit :)
If in doubt ask OSPS or Orange calls are free!

Month 1) Get the phone unlocked for under a fiver while under garantee :)
This increase the resale value of the contract later, and may give you more options at the end of the term. [Optional as phone unlocking prices tend to come down with time] The K500i is a costly handset and needs a hardware unlock so I'm off down Tottenham Court Road and Chinatown :)
Month 3) Phone and check how to cancel DDebit with insurance company
month 3) Cancel Direct Debit with insurance outfit / Call bank and ask them to kill the DDebit on your side. Get this confirmed in writing.
month 4) Send COPY of Orange bill for months 2 and 3 to OSPS to get rebate
month 5) Call Orange and ask when you can contact them to bump down to a cheaper plan. Then call OSPS and check this is ok you will still get the rebate, tell them you are recording the call and want the name of the person, call their sales line.
Month 6) Switch to cheaper talk plan if possible
Month 8) Send COPY of Orange bill for months 6 and 7 to OSPS to get rebate
Month 10) Call Orange to find out how to cancel they might need 30 days in writing!
Month 11)Issue termination note to Orange or switch to an OVP traffic etc. ensure the it does not alter Month 11's bill
Month 12)Send COPY of Orange bill for months 10 and 11 to OSPS to get rebate

ORGINAL POST (WITH MINOR EDITS)

Not sure if the is a good deal, There is a 100% refund via Cheque phone offer that includes line rental and calls. You get the handset, case, car chargers, personal hands free, and 3 months insurance (cancel the DD after month 3) and 14 day money back (from Orange) if you don't like the package, includes delivery next for orders processed before 4pm. 1p charge to your card per handset for security.

You have to pay £30 a month but get this back 100% refund via Cheque

http://www.onestopphoneshop.co.uk/ourdeals.php?PROV=OR&OFF=K500&TAR=OV100

Other deals like this are on http://www.fwdcellular.com/ look under rent free, but the k500i seemed better.

If anyone can recommend a place to unlock a k500i in London that would be great I'd like it unlocked and unbranded ASAP (increases resale value at end of contract and best done while under guarantee). Even better would be a free code unlock but I understand the K500i needs a cable to unlock. The F500 is the same phone with a Vodafone badge.

You have to pay monthly by direct debit. There is a rebate via cheque (3x£100 during the year). 12 month contract. So the effective cost is zero.

There is 30 days notice so tell orange in time: End of month 11! Not end of month 12! Keep your month 12 bill!

There are NO texts included, though you can buy bundles of these: ask Orange or use the options on the web site. The handsets are delivered with a transit lock, you have to call Orange to remove this before you can make calls, this is a security feature, don’t panic if you can make calls with the phone arrives!

Voice mail retrievals count against your free minutes, minutes are not rolled over.

ALSO THE PHONE COMES WITH A LITHIUM BATTERY MAKE SURE THAT YOU CHARGE THE UNIT FOR AT LEAST 4 HOURS THE FIRST TIME YOU USE IT TO ENSURE MAXIMUM BATTERY LIFE, CHARGE RETENTION ETC.

I went for the k500i, they have a Siemens CX65 as well but I could not find much about this phone. ~The K500iis a good phone mp3, camera and video but NO Blue tooth only IR. For gamers the unit has one of the fastest Java VMs around and 3d accelerated graphics. Splinter Cell is great on this phone. The VM is better than the one on the more expensive K700i. It is not a flip phone but it has an automated keyboard lock this is disabled by default. Turn it on via Phone, settings, Locks, Keyboard Lock, On. And Press * and Unlock to use it. Nice organiser and software built into the phone. 64,000 colour screen, quite large. Very small phone and very light. Neat feature is that the alarms work even if the phone is off! I did not get a CD with the phone but could download the software (but it did not work) ended up using Windows to beam stuff to the phone via infra-red (this is build into XP and Linux) and my wife’s laptop came with an IR Port. The battery level signal strength etc. is all on the top of the display in colour. Also the phone switches off the lights and display to save power. Just push a key to wake the phone, it will still ring and function in power save mode! The phone has 12megs of memory and is not expandable.

Others phones are available see below but watch out for the longer 18month contracts on Vodafone.

The blurb says the car charger is not compatible with the handset but the one I got seems to work.

I ordered by phone on 0800 0 345678 but the web site works too.

The phones are locked on Orange but are cable unlockable to any network around £5 per phone. I plan to cancel the contract after 12months and use an existing SIM: Which I have from another phone, on the no longer available to new customers OVP Virgin no line rental. The old OVP Virgin is not that good any more as the free 0800 access dialling is gone :(

If you want a review of the handset click here or type k500i into Goggle the handset is also in most high street chains Link etc. but my Carphone warehouse did not have it on display.

  • Have you tried the usual places on Tottenham court road? They are usually good and they usually have codes for all the latest phones.
The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

Do you have any store names or phone numbers?
Ideally I'd like them unlocked and unbranded.

Should it be here if it is not free? I got charged 1p for the phones and the £30 is rebated via cheque?

Do you have any stores you have used that you'd recommend? A store name and phone umber would be helpful if you have them?
    Seth.
  • Sorry but you stated that you get 300 notes back, at 30 per month this is obviously 10 months, so you have to pay 30 for each of the remaining 2 months, I think that is correct and link confirms that. Still a good deal but thought I would point it out to anybody who hasn't noticed.

It seems that when the site was re-jigged we were randomly allocated a previously existing username in the "signature" position. Coincidentally, given the OP of this thread, mine was "seth".

Go into User CP and change the signature.

Back to topic, this looks a very good deal - I don't suppose one of you would commit to reminding me when to send in my refund claim :p

I'm mobile-less at the moment (elderly 8210 on O2 PAYG keeps switching off) and completely addled with all the contracts. Too broke to pay for a decent phone up front. Funny how, even though I don't use my phone a lot, I feel armless without it.

This is 25 quid per month

    http://www.onestopphoneshop.co.uk/ourdeals.php?PROV=OR&OFF=K500&TAR=MY120

The 12 month offer is no longer :(

My first bill was around 30 as Orange charge for the partial month to make up to the invoice date Vs connection date.

They also hit me with a no DDebit fee as my DDebit was not set up by them! A quick call fixed this and got the fee rebated!

I've added a plan and diary of hoops to jump through for the deal.

Month 1 £30 Pro rata until invoice date > 1 month
    Month 2 £25
    Month 3 £25
    Month 4 £25
    Month 5 £25
    Month 6 £25
    Month 7 £25
    Month 8 £25
    Month 9 £25
    Month 10 £25
    Month 11 £25
Month 12 £20 Pro rata until invoice date < 1 month

    Total £300.00

But you can switch plans after 6 months

Month 1 £30 Pro rata until invoice date > 1 month
    Month 2 £25
    Month 3 £25
    Month 4 £25
    Month 5 £25
    Month 6 £25
    Month 7 £15
    Month 8 £15
    Month 9 £15
    Month 10 £15
    Month 11 £15
Month 12 £13 Pro rata until invoice date < 1 month
    £242.50

    The rabate stays the same:£300.00
