Ok so I thought it might be time for a bit of a life update.

Unfortunately, there isn't much to update - its been about work, work, work for the past week or so, filing work in the mornings and chippy in the afternoons and evenings with sunbathing slotted in wherever I can!

I'm looking forward to tomorrow, firstly because its a whole day off, secondly because that means I can sit in the sun all day :D and thirdly because I'm going to take the opportunity to review my SOA and see if I can get the DMP in place for 1st June.

I've finally got hubby completely on board with regards to a DMP, he's been so worried about credit scores and what to do when the car needs replacing or if we ever have enough cash to move house getting a mortgage etc etc that he's never really been able to get his head fully around it. Its only now I've been able to show him figures on paper that say if we knuckle down then we can be completely debt free in just over 2 years that he's started thinking that it might just be a good idea. His only caveat is that we build some savings at the same time so tomorrow I'm going to have a play and see if we can both clear the debt and build a decent safety net without extending our DFD past a maximum of 3 years. I think that could be realistic off the top of my head but I want to fiddle and see just how realistic!

I think I'll post my SOA on here and get you guys to have a quick squizz through for me, but not on the main board because basically I'm not a die-hard debt clearer - yes I want them gone, but I'm not willing to sacrifice our entire life to get there, at the end of the day I've got DB, he's only 9 and I don't see why he should suffer for my financial mistakes to be honest!!

What I'm getting at is that we have Sky, we have a fairly high "entertainment" bugdet so we can do things as a family and we have a (very) nice, new car on HP to enable us to get around reliably (plus it has a warranty so relatively low maintenance costs) but our grocery bill is a maximum of £30 a week (for two adults, one child, doggles and catface). So I think I'm balancing things pretty well. But thats why I'll post up my SOA because I've just read that back and its a bit warbley :D - sorry :rotfl: xxx

Thanks Moose - it looks great out there, maybe even nice enough for me to think about digging the garden!

    *Big yawn* :hello: morning!

Wow, very tired this morning - slept like a log so thats probably why.

Sat down with DH on our lovely new patio set last evening and discussed what we're going to do money wise. Since my post yesterday, I started thinking that maybe we don't need Sky if we have money to go out etc etc (bloody thinking again, one day I'll learn!) and I thought that perhaps we could cancel, or at least downgrade our Sky package....met with rather fierce resistance from DH, apparently I'm being a bit millitant !! So basically, if I want to cut back on anything I'm going to have to do it "on the sly" :D - what he doesn't know (or realise) won't hurt him :rotfl:!!

The problem now is that I don't know where to start! I've already cut our grocery spend, cancelled the gym, downgraded mobile contracts etc. Project for the day is to find a new energy provider and talk them into changing our meters from pre-pay to normal which apparently is easier said than done. Wish me luck!
