Hi , drizzly and dreary here too.

Woke up to an interesting email , tax rebate from HMRC , spent the money in 10 seconds in my head then realised it was a phishing email - boo ! Don't worry i'm wise , didnt click anything just forwarded to hmrc and deleted.

DD offered to help by doing weekly shop , long chat about sticking to list and budget , she's talking about leaving home soon so i thought it would be good for her to have a bit of responsibility . Anyhow she came back having overspent by £15 with bags of expensive branded products and lots of sweets and chocolate ! I also have to do another shop towards the end of the week for weekend food. She just doesn't get it and is affronted that I want to go with her next time to point things out to her.

On a positive note I got an email from mazuma to say payment on way for phone that hasn't been used since 2007 :D

my plans for the rest of the day :

check online banking - shaky , little money shuffle
    surveys
    competitions
make nutricious HM curried parsnip soup
check ebay sales - doing well
    look for items to list
heating off - warm clothes on
    HC x 1
    light housework

Hide from DD who is now stomping round house in a bad mood

    Hi everyone :hello:

Did anyone else really feel that missing hour this morning?! It was a real struggle for me getting up for work! Usually try and read the first few posts on here before I leave for work in the morning - no hope of that today! Was a bit of a rush. I'll read up on all your efforts/successes properly when I get home tonight. You're all inspiring me. So addicted to this thread! :)

Today I'm planning on taking it easy, waiting for the pace to pick up over the bank hol weekend, so here's my wee list:

    - Breakfast and lunch from home - feeling quite pleased about this as got OH into it too - made a bacon buttie before work and got tuna pasta for later
    - Charge phone at work
    - Wash the dishes as soon as I get home when the water is still hot (and only put it on for as little as poss if it's not hot enough - must remember to turn it off when I'm done!!)
    - Take shoes back that I don't need and won't wear
    - Be sensible and let my friend know that I can't make it to her middle-of-nowhere wedding - would be seriously pricey for travel and accommodation and a v long way to go for an evening invite. Plus, as it's my friend I'd feel bad asking OH to cough up so much money (esp when he doesn't even want to go) and I really couldn't afford to pay for us both. Also, got a hen night two weeks before, a wedding a fortnight after it and another wedding a fortnight after that one! Three weddings in four weeks is too much for my budget to handle, esp when I've got my own wedding budget to think about... Phew, convinced myself! Hopefully she won't think I'm a complete !!!!!
    - Put some coins in the jar

Might do a few more bits and bobs. Will catch up later.

    La xx

Right need you all to tell me what i know i need to do!!!! :p

Presently with ebay sales and saved march money i have £385! Woohoo!

The plan was to pay the last remaining £196 from Next and the £189 off credit card!

HOWEVER  Got a £414 gas/electric bill which we havent budgeted for (we are from now on!! only become better with money since feb!)

I have paid £100 off it online. So now got £314 to pay. The plan was to ring them and let me pay it over a couple of months. But really i should use my saved money to pay the bill off rather than next shouldn't i????

I know i should pay the bill off but i really want the satisfaction of paying next off!!!!! I reckon with ebay sales and the £71 i will have left over i can still get rid of next by the end of april.......if nothing bad crops up.

    What would you all do??

If the gas/electic company are willing for you to pay it over a few months and DON'T charge interest then personally I would pay whatever has the highest rate of interest first.

I am paying a Working Family Tax Credit overpayment off of over £1035 at £25 a month as they aren't charging interest. I could have paid it off several times but decided to use that cash to chip away at the credit cards - one of which has a 29% interest rate.

Just my opinion of course, but it may work for you.

yep, I agree, if you can pay that off, I would give yourself the satisfaction of clearing your debts adn plug away at the utilities, it gives you an incentive to also be more aware of your usage for future bills.

Weigh up the interest thing - although in my experience, utility companies dont tend to charge interest or extra charges for these types of agreements
