Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Monday 29th March. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning. Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
HSINhouseWindow02HL.gif Morning lovely OS-ers!
Rachel - Good luck with the court today, I will be thinking of you and sending positive vibes.
Donnygal - Hope the internment goes as well as it can hon.
Julie - Would love to see a pic of the finished water feature!
Joyfull - Our Sunday School gave out palm leave crosses at Church yesterday.
Bargain - So sorry to hear of your FILs accident and hope he gets over his fall soon. We swear by Arnica here for bruising and falls.
Taplady - Happy belated Anniversary to you both! And I loved the idea of Taplord singing to you. My OH has taken to whistling 'Happy Birthday' as he comes in the house if he has a gift or a parcel has arrived for me.
Bitsy - My FIL grows raspberries and he said they take a bit of attention, but worth it for the fruit.
Redruby - Ours was half price from Sainsburys too - wasn't it scrumptious? Just melted in the mouth.
Snoozer - Thank you, that was a lovely thing to say. smooch.gif
Butterfly - Tris is still having memory problems which is hard, he hasn't been in real time for about 10 days now. He hasn't managed to get more recent than about 6 yrs ago so has no memory of his wife at all, so our mutual friend and I are one of the few constants right now.
Candy - Well done on the weight loss honey, that is a huge achievement.
SunnyGirl - hugs.gif biggest of hugs for you sweetie.

HShungry.gif Breakfast will be a cold pork roll (Wellllllll, a few inches in another direction and it might have been bacon giggle.gif). Lunch will be slices of gammon (cooked in cola yesterday while the roast was cooking), in HB bread and dinner is probably going to be cold pork with roast potatoes, the end of the HG leeks and cauliflower from the farm shop up the road. Unless I get inspired elsewhere on the forum.

Lots of lovely daffs, primula, some pretty round pom pom things that have lost their labels and bluebells flowering in the garden, they are all so pretty though the garden is still in a terrible state as I haven't been able to get out into it since about October.
Hope you all have a good start to your weeks. With love, light and warm gentle HShuggies.gif to anyone who wants one.

Morning everyone - how are you all today?

I'm up early for some reason, not sleeping well recently :( Never mind, the second load of washing is on and I'm hoping that I'll get it dried outside today, if the forecasters got it right!

DH is planning on cleaning one of the cars today, again weather permitting. He got a gadget for the power washer that he's keen to try out.

Breakfast will be tea and toast in a couple of hours. I'm having soup for lunch that I made yesterday (BNS, carrot and lentil made with smoked paprika) and DH is going to have leftover shepherd's pie from Sunday's tea. I'll make a quick pasta tea when I get home from work, as I've got Choir practice tonight.

My brother and SIL are home for a few days, so hope to catch up with them at some stage over the next few days.

Have a good start to the week and I hope that the snow forecast doesn't come to much!

Good Morning chums, had a rotten night with joints aching ,I hate this damp weather ,I creak like a rusty old gate at times.I just got up and made a cuppa so with two hot buttered painkillers I am hoping to go back to bed shortly for a better snooze.A bit too early for me to start doing anything, still dark and even 'Basil' isn't up yet.I have a little bit of light shopping to do today, not much buying, mainly library books returned and a bit of banking for my eldest DD.since her local branch became automated I get the job of paying in odds and ends of cash for her. I had an ISA report from Sandander on Saturday and I wonder why I bothered saving with them.most of my spare cash is in premium bonds which I do at least get some return on now and again but I have a £5k ISA that is just rainy day money, and this year I got the princely sum of £4.98 to go out and have a ball on.Think its time it was moved somewhere else. Don't think my building society account will fare much better.
I made a nice pudding last night, I had a bag of whoopsied bramleys for 40p and peeled and stewed them, then I had in my cake tin a cake that was a golden syrup one from last week when they were on BOGOf I had bought a jamaica ginger cake and a Tate & Lyles golden syrup sponge for a £1.00.So the syrup cake I sliced thinly and spread on top of the stewed apples then topped that with some birds custard made with evaporated milk.Delicious and it will last me best part of a week.
I did a lot of chopping and slicing last night .I bought a Kenwood mini chopper at Christmas so thought I would use it once a week for stuff for the fridge so I now have a box of grated carrot, one of chopped red peppers and one of grated cheese.I have a store of those small plastic chinese rice containers that stack so my fridge is looking quite full at the moment I also peeled a stack of spuds and put them in my long green tuppaware box in water, so I haven't any spuds to peel this week.I change the water daily and they keep very well I find if I do all the chopping and peeling in one go on a Sunday it saves a lot of time during the week
Tomorrow I am going to Bluewater with my youngest DD to buy some shoes.I have an M&S voucher for £20.00 to spend and thought I'd put it towards some comfy shoes for my holiday.Right well I'm off back to bed to see if I can get an hour or so without too much tossing and turning.
Have a good day everyone its still raining at the moment here.I had a nice bunch of Chrysanths from my youngest DD yesterday for no other reason than she felt like treating her old Mum ,she is a dear little soul at times .
    Cheers everyone, Roll on Summer

    Morning All

Haven't popped by for ages :o hope everyone is doing ok? Have missed the banter on here ... along with the motivation it gives me too.

Anyways .... this week I'm going to follow Flylady down to the letter as intend to get a good start on my spring cleaning. I did think (after I'd planned to do it this week) that may be the week before easter holidays was a silly week to do it, but hey ho will just have to do it again after :rotfl:

I'm going to do a store cupboard list and meal plan - then do shopping list. Meals today will be:
Breakfast: Pancakes (no cereals/bread left ... or eggs for that matter but hoping the pancakes will be ok anyway :o)
Lunch: Salad (desperate need of using up!!)
Dinner: LO Shepherds pie and veg/salad (DD1 won't eat salad)

Desperately need to sort washing out - most is washed just needs folding and putting away.

Going to make a cuppa and then crack on with washing methinks ... can't function properly without a cuppa ;)

My dog ran off after a rabbit last week and came back covered in blood having somehow ripped his leg and cut through the main vein on his left leg  I have to take him back to the vets after school drop off to have the bandage changed ... poor baby :( So prob won't get cracking properly til about 10am today.
    [STRIKE]
    7-8.30am Breakfasts and sort washing
    8.30-10am School drop and vets
    10am-11am Storecupboard/meal plan/shopping list[/STRIKE]
11am-1pm Kitchen Flylady - In Progress
    [STRIKE]1pm-2pm Lunch and walk dogs
    2pm-3.30pm Shopping[/STRIKE]/post ebay parcels(Fogot!!) and [STRIKE]pick up DD's[/STRIKE]

Not sure if am picking up a friends DD as her husband has somehow managed to break his knuckle away from the rest of his hand in training  and needs surgery today so will wait until planning rest of day.

Hope everyone has a lovely day :D

    Morning folks
Bit rainy here but hope it will clear.
OS plans for the day include heating up yesterday's stew for tea. Not massively OS! We've just got our new fridge freezer - yeah- been without one since we moved!- so have plans for batch cooking and freezing again. I'm keeping marg tubs and other containers so have enough to get a few pots of things in there.
Better head off as I have some writing to do this morning and submit by 9.
Off to get a coffee first. I'm more of a tea in the morning person but needs must today!
Take care all and (((hugs))) to those under the weather, through illness, worry or sadness. Thinking of you.

    Good Morning All

    Hello again Halight

Found it hard getting up this morning, doesnt help that its a wet and miserable start to the week.

Off out this morning to the mechanics then home to the office. Small ironing pile to get through and house is quite reasonable. Won't be doing any spring cleaning today - paperwork is priority.

Didn't get round to menu planning yesterday :o so will probably have something easy with chips tonight.

Popped out with DD yesterday and found a ys beef joing in tesco :jso that has gone in the freezer.

Hope everyone is well & (((hugs))) whever needed, I shall keep my fingers crossed for warm dry weather for your joints JackieO.

Hope you dog gets on OK at the vets Jet.

Dark and wet here ..... I had a bad night because of joints too JackieO still at least I have managed to get a few bits done already this morning before DS gets up.

DH always makes me a coffee every morning before he leaves for work bless him otherwise I would find it very hard to get motivated.

I was planning on going in to town today but I will see what the weather brings later.

DH got a lot done on the dining room yesterday and I think he will have it fiinished this weekend. Then he will move on to the kitchen and utility room when he is off at Easter.

I have got the Hospital on Thursday and will probably pop into Wilkinsons on the way back because that's the day their sale starts and see if I can pick up a few bargain accessories for the house:D

Diva....... I am sorry that Tris isn't doing so well ((((hugs))))

Donnygal.......I hope all goes well today (((((((hugs)))))))

I have just watched the forecast and I think that I will have to bring my pots in and make sure that my seedlings are warm.

Oh well peace is shattered DS is up and grumbling so I will pop back later

Take Care all and try to keep warm and dry x x x

    Morning all,

Halight, nice to see you posting, dont stay away so long next time, glad the twins are doing well.

Wet and miserable here, it was a struggle getting to sleep last night, then we overslept this morning, I wish they would just leave the clocks alone :(.

Lots to do today, online shop needs doing, as well as a good tidy, hoover through, may do a small wash, although it will need to go on the airer.

We had just finished the ceiling in dd's room yesterday, when OH spotted a missing bit, so went over that, and the paint came away in strips like wallpaper,, the chap that lived here before us had not treated the plastered ceiling right before painting it, so I need to go up later and chip away at it and get most of it off

I would like to make some cakes too, but will have to see if I have time, dd only has three days at school this week, roll on the holidays, I need a lay in :D.

Dinner tonight will involve the left over roast pork from yesterday, not sure how yet, but we wont starve :D

Donny, hope all goes well today xx

    Have good days all xx

Work today, then when I come home I need to get on with the peperwork, it got abandoned yesterday when I saw Cary Grant was on TV, I can't resist him!

Good wishes for Rachel and DonnyGal today, and hugs to all those in need or want, have a lovely day(I promise I'll be in a better mood next time you see me!

    Morning All

Had a fantastic day on Saturday, hotel was great and waking up yesterday with a sea view was good for the soul...as was the 'all you can eat breakfast'. Came home a bit earlier than planned as I wasn't feeling great. Back at the doctors tomorrow.

At court today again with DS2 for his pre-trial review. That should be fun. I have to go within and if I get an attach of the whooshes I'll be staggering about like i'm drunk. Probably get sone for contempt the way our luck is lately!

Rachel - is see from Diva's post your OH is in court too today. I'll be thinking of you both xx

Did an online shop when we got back yesterday. Tesco's this week with £10 off a first on line shop. Did a meal plan yesterday which said we were to have a roast beef dinner today....and I forgot to take the beef out so its up the spout already :D

I'll pop back later and update on court.....
