Hi, I scanned as said. I also did a malaware byte and hijackthis scan.

I noticed that when I reboot my intray is showing a balloon/icon saying firewall turned off and click here. I assume this is something to do with the virus creating this.

Also today, I have been informed of an attempt to access my an account when I was not online. Very concerning.

I use windows firewall and norton symantec anti virus, but my confidence in them is dimishing.

This afternoon my anti virus picked up the following:

    Scan type: Realtime Protection Scan

    http://www.freedrweb.com/download+cureit/gr/
    Turn your anti virus OFF
Click CANCEL to the 'Would you like to read purchase terms now?' message
    Click START click OK
    It will auto QUICK scan
After that set to scan the WHOLE computer and press the 'play' icon

thank you for your time and help.

I have run dr web twice and it crashed around 90 minutes in both times. the error message isnt very helpful, just unable to complete.

at the same time I have updated firefox to 3.6.2 and it is proving very unstable. I have all my bookmarks on it so I am keep to use it. Not sure if the intolerance on both dr web and firefox is related :(

Adam, please start a new thread and run MALWAREBYTES first then post the hijack log

  • ok burn Ubuntu to cd and then boot into a live cd (may have to add boot from cd as number 1 in the bios the hard drive as number 2

then you can run a antivirus programme from the live cd (the live cd loads onto your RAM so is not installed on the hdd. ufw us the programme i'd use

    k
    thanks
