What hedge have we got?
Its in the front garden, we have a south facing front. We moved here in June and its totally green all the time so its obviously an evergreen. Im not sure I have seen flowers on it but didnt take too much notice initially.
The leaves are oval shaped, sort of light green and yellowy, its obviously eaten by something as a lot of the leaves have a lot of holes in them.
But the best bit is that the leaves are spicy smelling, I can smell it sort of like mace, or a deep nutmeg, but my dad thought it smelt of camphor or petrol??
I have tried searching online but cant find what it might be,any ideas?

Privet smells - can't think how to describe it without going out and having a sniff.
Does it grow a lot? Privet needs cutting 3 times a year.0 -
well we havent cut it since moving in, although it looks like it needs trimming on the outside, although not the top as we want it to grow high, i'll have a look at those pictures0

What about a bay that is suffering nutrient deficiency - they smell, and in the wrong conditions they will go from being a deep green colour to a yellow green colour. We had a couple in pots that have gone yellow - although that might be lack of sunlight which won't be your problem.Adventure before Dementia!0

no, wrong shaped leaves. when i say oval, i suppose its more of a rounded end, with a narrower end near the twigs,, so sort of oval but one end is rounder and wider than the other.0
