I am aiming to have finished my list as close to 3 as possible. That should give me an hour before OH is home. Neither of us slept well last night, so I want to chill so I can try and do all the driving, at least until our dinner stop in the borders anyway any further may depend on the traffic.

Does anyone further south from here know what the weather is like in the borders? We are trying to decide which way to go

AJ - have a fab time away. And yes I forgot to say he's going for 6 months, he already knows his R and R will begin 3 August. At the end of the day they only have to give you 48 hours notice once deployment training has been done, though they do normally give longer as you know. He's had 5 differing dates now so at least this time they won't be altering it.

DH and I are going to Helmsley on the North York moors for the weekend, can't wait. But DD2 has put a dampener on it as she says I'm being selfish going as it's DS's last weekend home, but I saw him yesterday, will see him today and Monday and Tuesday morning before he goes back. He is not concerned in the slightest as in his words he will be 'on the p$ss' with his mates every evening as well as Saturday afternoon and probably sunday afternoon as well! He's making the most of it because he can't drink for six months whilst he's there. Her dad is going away with his girlfriend for the weekend as well, wonder if she's said the same thing to him, probably knowing her! Do you think I'm being selfish? This has been booked weeks after discussing dates with DS

Oh I'm so sorry to hear sandy's news. Greenbee, please send my love and she'll be in my thoughts.

carlsberggal - no, not selfish in my opinion. If you were not seeing him at all, it'd be different, and he's out with friends anyway.

    Good news:

    I'm on holiday now!!

DD passed her driving test theory!!
