    Morning all,

Thanks for the updates on Sandy, Greenbee, please pass on my best wishes. Also, re your man friend, I am sure you will make the right decision for you both now, just remains to be seen if he does, but you aren't that naive young lassie anymore and seem to be a classy lady so hope you find a suitable horologist soon to help you with that ticking clock. :D

Soappie, glad that BG are going to get you sorted, and your NN does sound very N. Warm thoughts winging their way.

Hex - yuck, :rotfl:but am loving the solutions :D

Thifty - thanks for noticing and for the sympathy, much appreciated. I rang my lovely sister yesterday (had been putting it off because I know that she feels in equal parts guilty and strangely jealous as it has been her rare hereditary neurological condition for 25 years and now she can't even keep that to herself:D) and we had a good talk and a good cry and whilst still tearful and low-ish, I can see the other side ...just...

LW - I was told in my late teens that I probably wouldn't ever conceive and would be very unlikely to carry a child so I just never entertained maternal instincts and I don't think that you or I are unusual. My Mum was a single-mother with children with 3, possibly 4 different (very absent) fathers which wasn't common in that era/where we lived plus she is a very selfish woman. I mothered her from being 11 (including all the housework and cooking) so can only assume that she thought I would be ok when she left me alone in the house with no money at 15? Having had no real experience of being mothered or seeing how parents should work from close hand I continually question my parenting instincts/actions and feelings (I have 3, well they did say, probably!) but all 5 of us are a close family unit and we muddle through... but admits in a very quiet voice that I do occasionally wonder if it was wise to have any let alone 3, especially when I read about just what joy and delight folks like the ones on here get from their children and I'm sure give in return...
DS has just been to my work, now he's supposed to be in Caterrick, but guess what he's got his date finally for Afghanistan, it's next thursday.

So sorry for your anxiety, wishing him safely home already!

LOL.. you have no idea how often I get asked that.. they are all mine.. :D I've spent 12 years breastfeeding!!

Eeek , 12 years! and definitely notice board, mirrors need shining :D

I am so proud of him, he left working with me which he had done since leaving school for close on 30 years and it is not easy to retrain for anything in your late 40s.

What a lovely post, congratulations to you both.

So sorry about such a long post, with no mention of flying, but I was decluttering feelings :o. Sorry about the pity party too, promise to pick myself up and go flying...today... will report back on progress later.

ETA - I knew there was something else - AnWsMum and Toots, have a lovely weekend and hope that the confirmation goes really well Toots, DD was confirmed last May and it was really lovely, wishing the same for you.

Then Ds1 came downstairs and knocked the bin over and instead of picking it up went back upstairs. I asked him to come and pick it up and he told me to F off i'm Fing busy.:mad::mad::mad::mad: So i've taken his xbox off him until he can behave himself. I'm not having it.

Well done. There is never any reason for being disrespectful, to anyone, but especially to your mum. And as for the bad language . Although I think I have a 'thing' about swearing.....I've never really said 'naughty words' (apart from the occassional 'bo**ocks' - that works for me :D)

I tell my boys that they have no need to swear, they are clever enough to find a proper word to use instead! :D If they do swear (DS2 has been known to come out with the odd word every now & again) they have to write lines.....

I am far too clever to swear!
I am far too clever to swear!
I am far too clever to swear!
I am far too clever to swear!
I am far too clever to swear!

So far, it seems to have done the trick.....mind you, they are only 9, 10 & 11 and extremely young for their age....no street cred....not cool or anything like that....which is the way I like it

    Zero tolerance in our house........

Stand your ground, no one deserves to be spoken to like that. :T:T

ps. If I have spoken out of turn, please forgive me.... :o
I'm not so tired & not so desperate..... mainly thanks to MSE :D so just call me Notso.....

Greenbee - get a cat, they are better than men, loyal, cute and also have the added benefit of loving unconditionally. plus they satisfy the biological ticking as well, not so good in other areas, but hey you cant have everything :p

and you can have four at once if you want to!

cally - some of them snore!
Greenbee - you know my background, and my view :p. Everything crossed for you.
Funfair - thanks for the offer, Bute I think, or Glasgow.

10am and we are not dressed yet - again. I still have next week off as well :T. Boys are being brilliant despite the weather meaning we haven't been out.

So far I have emptied and filled the DW, put the meat order from the online butchers away (looks good - and came at 8am!), made french toast for DS1 and drank too much tea as usual. Not raining today but cold, windy and frosty so hopefully we can go out.

Thanks for the sympathy and sugestions re the bin. I think the biggest issue is that I fail to see why an unbroken plastic bin should be added to landfill just because he doesn't want to sort it. If he had done it on the day it would have been a simple swill and disinfect. It is black bagged and in his bedroom for his dad to deal with.

Greenbee the good thing is your stance has changed from 'I'm happy on my own' to 'I need to get out and meet people'. I wish you luck in your search for happiness just please don't cause misery for somebody else along the way x
Don't worry... I'm not prepared to put myself through that kind of pain either... but it is nice to have someone interested (actually, there is more than one, but with the others I know either they are definitely after a bit of entertainment or that it's the attraction of something they can't have - I did tell someone yesterday to stop IM'ing me on their day off and spend some time with their wife)

Thanks :D Cats are too much responsibility at the moment... but cats and dogs are definitely part of the selection criteria for men (along with an ability to cope with my erratic work lifestyle and my many and varied neuroses).

I may, of course, be getting worked up over nothing... it's probably just spring.... :o

Busy day yesterday. Just skimmed the thread.

Sandy - so sorry it wasnt' what you wanted to hear. Thinking of you and your family.

Greenbee - thanks for the updates on the above.
I'm torn with regards to your dilemma. DH was married:o when we met. I was 18, he was 27. It wasn't pretty but we have been together 22yrs and he's not filled the mistress vacancy. Nevertheless I have friends and relations who have unhappy tales to tell.

Toots - Best wishes for Sunday - it was one of the best things I have ever done for ME. 30 Nov 1999 - I celebrate the anniversary like a birthday.

Pigpen - I have DS's of 11 and 15 - my problem is getting them to look in the mirror, neither have awoken to the power of the fairer sex and appearance is very low on their list of priorities. A Pinboard is an excellent idea - I must get to the Home Store.

Hex - Deffo put it back just before he comes home - how revolting.

DD1 has got into DS3's primary school. (Big sigh of relief). They are very oversubscribed and there are 7 sets of twins starting in September.

My girls night out on Tuesday was good fun. DH had promised to do the morning shift and school run but didn't much to my disappointment. However fate paid a visit and he agreed to do it this morning. DD2 had a wet and dirty bed (v. rare event) and he had to deal with it.:rotfl:

I have the same thing with my boys - they 'try it on' with me when they wouldn't dare with DH. That's probably why...they wouldn't dare with him. He's never been violent or anything with them or ever given them any reason to think he might, although he can't half SHOUT - we all jump when he shouts ....(in fact, as they keep reminding him , he had to promise to the judge when we officially adopted them 3.5 years ago, that he would never hit them )

It's just a boy thing...one day he will grow out of it :)

Out of interest, what would his Dad say if he knew (or does he know?)

    Morning everyone.

Had such a shock this morning. Checked my bank account and £12,000 had been taken out. I dont owe them that amount and did not have that amount in my account. No wonder bank was trying to contact me. Rang mortgage company and they said it was a mistake. My heart was going like the clappers. Been to the bank and all sorted now. Phew! Its a good job I checked with it being a Bank Holiday weekend and my bills coming out.

Off to meet DD now and will catch up on my flying later.

Hugs for everyone specially Toots, Lady L, Diva and sandy.
