I was making the assumption that there was interference between a cordless phone base station and the router that may have been causing the problem. Is OP using wired home phones?
Must admit I've got a bit lost here now.
Just for the hell of it suggest OP disables the wireless signal, if its on, and see if it makes any difference.
Google the model number of the router and follow the user guide.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Husband disconnected everything and made a test by taking off front plate of master socket, then reconnected everything and everything is working now. Don't know what was wrong but now fixed. Many thanks to you and all the others that replied.OP confirmed they're using corded phones in post 10.
