The RSPCA are useless. Ive heard so many complaints about them over the years. They are only interested in investigating a case if they have a tv camera crew behind them.
Try threatening them with the papers but otherwise I would definitely think about creeping round in the small hours and stealing the poor rabbit.0 -

The RSPCA are useless. I absolutely hate them after hearing the put 10 GSD's down with a bolt gun. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/6115690/RSPCA-puts-down-10-German-Shepherds-with-bolt-gun.html

It's just discusting the way they act nowadays. They need to look seriously at their rules and change them as they can't intervene if there is signs of food and water on offer.
But yeah, rant over and back on topic, Take the rabbit or take pictures to prove your point to the RSPCA. Is there not a center that you can go to to take the pictures and make yourself heard?
God thats made me cry, a bloody bolt gun
As for the rabbit, no bedding?! Poor thing. Do you have any rabbit rescues nearby? might be worth phoning them and explaining whats happening they may be able to advise you on what you can do to help the bunny.:starmod:Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1189:starmod:0 -
Thanks for the feedback. Stealing the bunny would be just about impossible. It's in full view of about 6 neighbours, kept within feet of the owner's bedroom window & the only access is through someone else's garden.
I didn't realise RSPCA were so inept - thought it was just me! Threatening them with publicity is an option. Would I have to actually follow through or just threaten?"Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -
Can't you try the police? Cruelty to animals is a criminal offence. Hopefully a call from the local police might make your neighbours think harder about looking after their rabbit better.
Alternatively could you ask them if they still want the rabbit as you've always wanted one? If you know them already then it might be the simplest way to rescue the poor bunny. People often get rabbits for pets for small children then they get bored of them and they end up being a bit neglected. They might be glad if you took it off their hands.0 -
Just phoned the RSPCA yet again, once again it was treated as a new call. Have also phoned RSPCA HQ to lodge a complaint about how this has been handled. Now will have to put complaint in writing. I will mention this to my PCSO."Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0

I would call the Rabbit Welfare Society they have always been very helpful to me:call our Helpline: 0844 324 6090 Open from 10am daily

The GSD reference is rather off-topic, however this method is considered to be humane - how do you think all of the sheep and cattle were slaughtered during the FMD outbreak? They weren't put to sleep with an injection you know!
10 GSDs living with one person in a house AREN'T pets. They will have been a pack of wild animals.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

So the RSPCA go and assess the dogs. They are too aggressive to rehome so they realtives are told that the RSCPA will take them but have them put down. The realtives try other dog homes who won't take them. Probably because they are aggressive. They are humanely put down.
If the RSPCA had taken the dogs and rehomed them and the dogs had attacked and killed another dog I am sure all the Anti-RSCPA mob would be crying about that too. I really can understand why some RSCPA inspectors wonder why they bother when no matter what they do someone complains about it.0 -
The Bolt Gun doesnt actually kill them outright, its just an irreversible stun. It will kill them eventually but it will take a while0

Can you not approach them in a friendly manner and ask if they want you take the rabbit? Perhaps drop in to conversation you are looking for a friend for your existing buns?0
