  • I think some may well do it, as some female dogs do - my old terrier girl used to hump her bed - normally very loudly and when visitors were here!!!

    Thanks for that.....

Just done some research on good old google, and yes, girlie rabbits do hump its a dominance thing apparently, though what the cats think when she tries it God only knows!

I should have known really, in all other respects she a typical girl rabbit, hormanal, grumpy and very independant! She has built herself a nice little warren in my yard!

I am getting her spayed soon, just another £20 to go!

Hi I have 2 female rabbits and both have done the humping thing! Found it quite amusing at first as they would often hump each others heads!
I had them spayed when they were about 1 year old which calmed it down but i'll still catch them at it every now and again :rotfl:

Just given the hutch a good good wash and soak and its in the sun drying..when dry can we put some lino in the bedding part that makes it easier to clean out as he is wetting a lot and its going horrid and hard to clean..have heard of peopel doing it but just wondered if it works?
    Thanks

Have some nice black slate tile effect from our kitchen which would look very smart!!
    Thanks

i have always done this with guinea pigs and see no difference with using it with rabbits really.so much easier to keep clean and smelling nice. i used diluted zoflora on mine and just sling out the lino when it's gone past it's best.

Mind you my pigs only got off cuts a cheap bits from carpet places, your rabbit may get a taste for interior design if you use a posh bit!!:rotfl:
  • Yes :)

I usd to have my hutches full of straw but it was hard to keep it clean and my garden ended up looking like a barnyard. so I put lino in, sealed around the edges with silicon sealant, and added a box stuffed with straw for them to snuggle in when it was cold. they had a separate litter tray so the box straw rarely needed changing :)

You can yes, BUT be aware that the rabbit may chew it and eat it! My rabbit chewed her lino something rotten.

If the hutch is big enough put a proper plastic litter tray in it, newspaper in bottom and plenty of hay on top, rabbits are very easy to litter train.

Thanks for the replys. Well we gutted it out at the weekend and hosed it down and its as clean as new now! fitted the lino in the bed part and its worked a treat...so much better to clean out now!
As for litter training he seems to keep changing places so not sure on that as yet but this lino was because of him using the bed so now it is easier to clean its fine.

One other question is he is now on the patio as really wrecking the garden..where he has just moved from is now like a mud bath and is a nightmare but he does spend most of the days on the grass in his run..my friend said last night this can cause poss problems with his feet but she wasn't sure what? does anyone know?
Can we put the lino down the bottom too on the patio? we have a huge offcut from our kitchen so should last a fair while!

think they mean if on grass the claws keep growing , and maybe need clipping as on hard surface they wear down on there own
