Already been bitten twice here this year - Mosquito milk is brilliant, smells nice , roll on and can be used safely on children.

I react badly to mosquito bites, but I found that Brewers yeast tablets helped quite a lot - whether it calmed down my reaction to them (I was told that the insects dont like the scent they pick up through your skin) but it did help - Although I was also advised to start taking them a few days before I went on holiday (camping).
should be able to get them from health food shops

My vote would go to Mosquito Milk. It is a roll-on and you only have to apply stripes, not cover all exposed skin. It is very economical to use.

I was badly bitten on the eyelid (!!) a couple of years ago in the Dominican Republic. It swelled horribly and I ended up seeing the hotel doctor. He recommended that in future years, we use Vitamin B tablets. As it says in a previous post, they are supposed to make you less attractive to the little critters. Anyway, we have used Vit B for our last few holidays in conjunction with Mosquito Milk. So far, so good.

I am not sure if the Vit B tablets are just an urban myth but they are cheap to buy and do not do any harm. We start to take them a couple of weeks before going away and keep taking them all the time whilst on holiday.

We all swear by vitamin B, start taking a week before you got and the mossies will hate you.

Seven of us returned from Fuerteventura 10 days ago and only me and my 2½ yr old grandson were bitten to bits by mosquitos. We came out in great big lumps. He still has a mark on his cheek where bitten, I hope it goes away !
Half way through the holiday we started using a plug in, and it really helped when indoors.

If you decide to take Vit B then it's Vit B1 (Thiamine) you need to buy. The usually recommendation is to start taking it about 2-3 weeks before you go. Apparently, after taking them, the mossies detect that you smell like vegetables and that's the reason they don't bit you!! Put in a search online for 'Thiamine and Mosquitos' and thenscheck out the search result, it should say somewhere how many milligram tablets you would need to take. You will probably need to go to a pharmacy like Boots to buy these.
Jungle Formula products are pretty good. I prefer the wipes, and they are very long lasting. The subject of 'deet'?......well,it's good stuff, but i noticed on one occassion that it took my nail varnish off, and I thought wow, if it does that, what the hell is it doing to my skin!! I haven't used it since. Another thing to try, is putting 1drop of TeaTree Essential Oil on each of the pulse points on your wrists.

Also, when you are away, you may find any sprays etc are half the price. Make sure you buy citronella candles over there and also the mosquito rings that you burn, if sitting outside at night. Be prepared to spray up and light up your candles etc. just before sunset! As soon as that sun goes down, especially on a beach, they'll be there!!
Good Luck and have a great holiday!!:)

P.S. Definitely buy the Aspivenim syringe kit to take with you. I have one and they're brilliant. You can usually get them in Boots now cause i've seen them. If not u can get them online. If u get a bite, it just sucks it all out!!

I tried the Vit B route and it made no difference at all. I've used Jungle Formula the last couple of years and it's the only thing I've found that works for me...and believe the mozzies LOVE me. I won't go out in the evenings in anything other than a very long skirt or trousers and I always take the anti sting pen just in case
