Thats terrible. I've never tried the Costa up there , I always go to Starbucks never tried Thortons cafe. Customer complaints should always be treated properly and customers should be treated with respect. At the end of the day the customer spends their hand earned money and the least they can do is treat you with respect and apologise. I recently worked in a coffee shop, got a full time job now elsewhere. We always helped customers who needed assistance with trays and never quibbled if we had made a mistake with their drinks orders and made them another and apologised.
I was in Costa at Tesco Rutherglen last week and have to say that the service there is very good, staff are very polite. It wasn't there I worked by the way, there's a very nice coffee shop up at Kingsgate retail park, in Simply Food, try there!!

    Sorry Alan but i don't PM non-regulars.

To the poster asking what did I expect, well the correct drink to start with! No gingerbread syrup in the gingerbread latte and made to feel like it was my fault when this was pointed out.

Second it wasn't like everyone in the shop was drinking, one table (the one closest to the barista) was a staff member filling in paper work which is fair if it's quiet but the place was jumping so surely there was a more suitable place to do this? And other tables had people who didn't have coffee at them, now back in the day randomers reading their books/using the free wi-fi without paying for coffee got asked to move if an actual customer needed to use the table, I was treated like dirt! Have never been treated like that in my regular coffee place and I've also never been refused a new drink when they've made the original one wrong.

Even offering us take out cups when they realised there was nowhere to put me would have been more acceptable, at least then we could have went and had them in the car (because it was pouring with rain on saturday).

After frequenting Costa coffee at Northampton services last year, i wonder why anyone would spend any money in one of their shops. I was greeted by a woman so miserable she was curdling the milk. I cheerfully asked for a cappuccino to which the surly !!!!! asked "do you want an extra shot of coffee in that"? Thinking she was being nice really and that she must have been unlucky enough to have born with that face, i replied "ooh yes please" to which she promptly registered another fifty pence on the till. FIFTY bloody pence for something i should have had anyway in a coffee that was now going to cost me £3.75!! For £3.75 i'd have expected to take one of their china mugs home, instead i got a large cup of lukewarm froth with a hint of sludgy milk in the bottom, a crappy cardboard chuckaway cup and a bitter taste in my mouth.

I really can't understand this 'experience' that Costa, Starbucks etc market (quite successfully) to people with more money than sense.

    The coffee is crap too.....

    .

I agree. I may be old-fashioned, but it is hardly money-saving to spend over £2.50 on a cup of coffee that costs pence to make.

I suppose if you market your product as 'premium', even when it isn't, there will always be gullible people who will pay a great deal for this artificial 'experience'.

Well cant say somebody didnt try and help you can you? Maybe some people just like to moan. youve been offered the apology, refund and free drinks. What would you like? Staff members to make a personal visit to your home to apologise to you and beg that a one off customer returns?

I don't like doing it (nothing personal!) but I have to agree with you. What is the problem with a PM via the board? There's no more personal details given out than in a forum message, is there? (Correct me if I'm wrong.)

My hospital has a Costa which I visit if I'm early for an appointment or suchlike. Last visit it was shut for renovation and I ended up in a cafe just around the corner from hospital. Lovely coffee for 80p!
I like Costa but I know where I'll be going in future.

Well there is no helping some people is there.

A post offering you refunds and apologies galore.

tbh I bet if it was you sat at a table and you had no drink and was asked to vacate, you'd probably be on here complaining.

The staff screwed up, the manager is on here saying sorry, oh but what not good enough for you.

Perhaps the member of staff was doing their paperwork on their break,

I don't frequent costas often, but even i can see if the place is full i don't go in....

there is always a Starbucks/costas on every corner.

Could you describe the staff member who was sitting down at the table? i.e. hair colour, shirt colour.

Same applies with the barista who served your coffee on the machine, hair colour, shirt colour. This can help myself identify the barista and coach her on what happened.

Our baristas are trained to a high level at the Fort and yes on occassion (they are human) do make mistakes while making the drinks but if your drink is incorrect we will always change it to the correct one.

If you do not wish to pm then I will be in store thursday from 1pm, friday 9-4, saturday from 1pm and sunday from 12pm.
If you bring your reciept and identify yourself to myself then I can sort out a couple of free drinks.

I hope you will visit us again and I promise we will deliver a better service to you and your family.
