I wouldn't leave the kids in the car, I always take them with me.

Mine are 6, 3 and 1 and I always take them all out. I usually avoid it wherever possible by forward planning but now and again it does happen. I'd never leave them in the car by themselves, I kinda run the logic of the fact that I wouldn't leave my handbag/purse/coat/jewellery/etc visible in the car whilst I left it so I certainly wouldn't leave the kids.

Another thing to consider is that a car can get very hot inside, very quickly, on a hot day. However, most petrol station forecourts are shaded so this isn't so much of an issue. I tend to pay-at-pump these days, but if I was going in the kiosk I'd leave the kids in the car. I wouldn't leave them in the car if I was doing anything that took more than 5 minutes, however.

I personally wouldnt leave mine in the car BUT I only have one 5 year old and dont drive! so when we go for petrol it's my hubby who fills up and pays whilst I stay in the car. But I agree it must be tricky when you have a few!

There is always an extreme case in every situation....... remember the child who battered the other child with the car jack whilst left in the car alone?!! But these are few and far between thankfully!!!

Actually no I dont ? do you have the details ?.................Rather an odd place to keep a car jack , normally you would find them in the boot surely

  • If one of your children wants to batter his brother/sister to death with a car jack you have far bigger parenting problems than whether or not to take them into the kiosk to pay for petrol ;)

Yes, if not the car jack that day, it would have been a kitchen knife another!

I don't think them being in the car was the issue either!
