Afternoon everyone.
Happy birthday Pink Winged. Sounds like you got some nice presents and that you are having a nice day.
I'm having a down in the doldrums day myself. I was looking forward to it as well with the midwife appointment and having DH around for the morning. Thankfully all that went ok and i am still healthy.
It's been a bit rubbish with money this morning. DH's car was being fixed by BIL,so i rang my sister this morning to see if he'd finished it, and we were told that it is time to say goodbye to it. It will cost at least £1000  (and that is just parts as BIL is a superstar and doesn't charge us labour) to put right, and looks like it is on the top of the downhill slope. As the car is worth less than this, it is time to start shopping, so we've been looking online this morning, and it looks like we will be forking out about £4000. Plus, DH's car just had a new set of tyres, and the AC fixed.
I could cry, as we are already spending £3000 tomorrow when the new furniture is delivered, and have a £2000 credit card bill due. So my maternity savings will take a great big whack, as only the furniture was fully budgeted for, and i have been a bit slack with the DIY costs creeping up.
Plus, we are away next week, so will have to pay petrol, spending money and putting the cats in the cattery for a week.
I just don't know where to start thinking about cutting back, although we have both said it will have to be drastic as i only have 2 more months full wages before maternity leave starts.
I can just imagine that i will have to go back to work before i wanted to unless i can pull something out the bag.
Please send some hugs this way. At the minute we need to fork out more on the DIY as well, or be left having to live in a hovel. New furniture is going to have to go straight in the garage, and i will have to put off spending more for the next few weeks at least.
I've just ordered DH not to spend any more until after the weekend at least because then the credit card will start again for the following month. I sometimes worry myself to death that we will end up in debt at the rate we are going.
Sorry to be on such a downer today. I'm going to do a bit of playing around with some numbers, and try to sort the mess out a bit.

((((((HUGS))))) coming your way cha97michelle
ouch dont you hate it when all the expenses come at once!!
I dont know what to suggest apart from buy a lottery ticket, sell some stuff at car boot?/ebay?
especially when youre due on maternity leave I know how that feels, before I had my DS and DD I used to put loads away so that were was enough in the bank so I wouldnt worry whilst i was off, and it soon goes!!! now im back at work ive got to try and build it up again! good luck0 -
Taplady - when are you going to Ilfracombe? I used to live in Barnstaple (a few miles away) and it really is a lovely part of the country. Make sure you have a Hockins ice cream whilst you are there, its the best ice cream i have ever had, and its one of the things i miss most (apart from friends and family!!!)
Pink - glad you are having a lovely birthday, i bet the photo is really special, thats th sort of pressie i love!!!!

Nikki - Hugs to you too, OHs can be a pain sometimes!!!!
Shez - gosh, ive been home all day, and i still havnt donr as much as you did before you went to work!!! Cant even blame Dora today, as we didnt have it on!!!!!
Mind you, did call sky, and after threatening to cancel, have got another 3 months at half price, so thats good. Ive half cleaned the bathroom so need to finish that once the little one wakes up, and i still need to put the BM on. Didnt do the washing, as it clouded over this morning, and looked like it was going to rain, but at the moment, its beautiful sunshine, so wish i had done it!!!!
Right, might see if i can finish the bathroom without waking little one, older ones are watching lion king, so they are all happy!!!!
Have a good afternoon
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -

The farm was good!
They also had hens for sale.
I just need a fox proof hen house & a guide on keeping hens & I want to get some. They were £15 each & some kind of rare breed. Also hens don't normally approach me. These did. I was very chuffed!
Kids wanted bicuits from the bakers, but they were hugely expensive  so am about to do some baking with the kids...
well done on finishing the essay PP!

catowen - only did a "small" bit of ironing, wraps done nite before along with cakes etc. thought id better do a bread pud as mum likes to have a bit with her cuppa when she comes over to look after DS! I didnt have dora on today or lazytown - I must have seen them 100's of times over!! so watched koala brothers instead!
We are taking DS to see "CARS" today, his first trip to cinema! hope he's not scared when it goes dark!0 -

Feeling a little calmer.
Just worked out that once all bills/payments go out, there will be £46.07 left in the account till my pay day on the 15th. We will have to put petrol and money for spending on hols on the CC once we get past the 7th of August. Luckily we are going self catered and it is DH's parents treat to us, and only 5 days. I think i will have to raid the piggy banks and see what i can scrounge together to pay into the bank for a bigger cushion. My mum owes us £16 too, so i'll get that when we pick up the car tonight.
Sorry for doing a hormonal mare impression. It's hard though isn't it when things all hit you unexpectedly. Thank goodness i already got paid for the SAT marking i did this week, although i wish the tax man hadn't been as greedy.
Dreading to find out the cost of the bits that BIL did do to the car just so it would be roadworthy for the hols and last us till needed.
Also didn't take into account we can probably sell the car for a few hundred quid, and someone will be happy at that for 6 months of cheap motoring.
I don't think i'll manage to get anything else done now today apart form chillout. I may manage to put the slow cooker on soon to make a rubber chicken curry for tonights dinner. I guess i could look up some cheaper recipes and start trying to come up with a sensible budget.
