You asked what was the best way to get compensation, most have given you the correct advice that unless you've suffered a loss then you have nothing to claim for. I'm sorry, but if you were looking for tea and sympathy or people just to agree with you then obviously a forum isn't the right place for you.0

The other thing to bear in mind is that it might not be the Opticians fault. They have probably ordered your lenses from what is usually a very reliable lab and the order gone missing in transit or has been rejected or they rejected the lenses due to a tiny scratch or......
If things go wrong, you can guarantee it will be several times with the same patient and order - a certain law applies.Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

Write to them, ideally the head of the company (I am serious - this work far better), explaining (unemotionally) what has happened and that you are unhappy with the service. Say that you would question using their service again, or recommending it to others. Say that you would like:
1) A written apology, out of courtesy, from them
2) An account of why the delay has happened
3) If you do want compensation, explain how much and justify it.
