agreement failure and late delivery of specs

Options
Guys,

Was wondering if anyone here could help.

Basically I bought a pair of prescription glasses and was promised it'd be 3 weeks before I'd get them.

Three weeks later no sign of glasses, and I really need them!

A week ago I received a call saying that'd be another week.

I told them I was unhappy and then emailed them explaining they'd broken the terms of the agreement and that therefore I was entitled compensation.

The question now is how do I work out how much to claim? Is there a simple formula I could use?

Cheers guys

Probably get nowhere as these are made to spec and not something they can sell on.

The thing is I've already payed for them...

Why do you think you are entitled to compensation? Have you suffered a loss?

Yes, I do believe I am entitled a compensation - the agreement of delivery was broken, plus haven't been able to intensive work due to lack of prescription glasses, hence why I am asking for help, I guess.

Again, have you suffered an actual, quantifiable loss?

It's been 10 days since the agreed delivery date, and counting and no glasses yet. Does that quantify?

So you haven't suffered any losses then. Your glasses are a bit late, it happens.

3 weeks until delivery plus 10 days and still counting = "a bit late"???

It sure has happened and don't wish it on anyone, that's for sure.

PS: Isn't anyone seeing what I'm trying to get at?

I paid for a pair of specs I really need for work, I was told three weeks and I'd get them. 10 days gone. I have been struggling without the new pair.

So there's nothing that can be done?!

    Shocking!

Must be a very unique prescription, my new pair took about 3 days.

If these glasses are so vital to your job what was happening previously, or is it a new job?

Unless the optician promised the glasses would definitely be ready in 3 weeks without fail or you said you would only buy the glasses providing they would be ready in 3 weeks, I don't think you have much hope of "compensation".

    It may do Calvink.

Can you put a monetary value on the loss you have suffered?
