I could never get my OH to put the seat down UNTIL I got one of those stainless steel anti odour things (like you can get to wash hands with after smelly cooking, but on a wire to hang over the toilet rim) and pointed out that it would work better and more quickly if the lid was down (less area) so now the seat and lid are put down before flushing, which I think is probably more hygenic all round.0

You beat me to it! was just going to say the same thing.;) I never use one, think they are really unhygenic. I just leave bleach overnight in mine and clean everyday and i dont need one!Do what you love :happyhear0 -

With that in mind, I now carry about one of these tubes of antiseptic handwash gels in the old handbag, and you don't even have to dry your hands. I get mine from Avon, but am sure there are others on the market.
yukk!!! I use the Avon gel too, or their antibacterial wipes. I try not to use the public loo unless I'm absolutely bursting!:oDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Today I have cleaned 2 loos on BTL properties we have just bought & they were foul!!!
I got marigolds, bleach & a pan scrubber thingy and got my hand right in!!
The loos were nice enough to wash your face in after about 20mins work so why can't people just clean up after themselves?
It's not hard and it's a lot nicer for all concerned!0 -

Don't bother - bin it and get a new one from somewhere like Wilkinsons. Also while we're on the subject of loo's : use TESCO TOILET LIMESCALE REMOVER regularly and Neutrodol toilet tablets most evenings (when you remember!!). Throw away all cloths and rubber gloves that have been used near a toilet (yes - even your own) and also never ever sit on the seat of a public toilet - line with loo roll if you HAVE to sit down. Wash hands manically afterwards.
This is my take on it - not very old-style or money-saving (and probably slightly neurotic) but it saves me having nightmares or becoming an obsessive hand-washer. Also there are others in my family who feel the same so I'm not alone.:rotfl: :rotfl:
Quite keen moneysaver......0 -

Loo brushes are about 50p in Tesco including a holder, I get new ones all round every month or so ( 3 toilets).0

I've asked this on another thread without any replies, so I'll try my luck here...steam cleaning toilets, wouldn't that be unsanitary with the particles of what's on the loo going into the surrounding air?
I don't understand why people have to put their hands into the toilet bowl to clean when all you have to do is squirt bleach/limescale remover around the bowl. That removes everything.0 -

Just to make you a bit more paranoid put the lid down b4 you flush otherwise fecal matter gets sprayed into the air. So dont go into public toilets which usually dont have lids do they?
Are people really so scared of their own s**t? I should think the death rate from that type of thing is minimal.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
